zerostat 3 gun
i have never built a potato gun yet but do you guys think that this could work as an ignition system if wired into a strip. I don't know how to post a link but if you google search it you can find the site. I just had one given to me that puts off quite a shock probable 10 times more than a grill ignitor or more.

anyway, yes you can do that, it is called a spark strip.
to post a link just copy and paste the web site at the top. its a good idea, but you could only have maybe 4 or five sparks with a bbq, my cousin did it with 4 sparks and it worked fine.
if you can get your hands on a stun gun you can make it the legnth of the entire chamber.

I don't think the zerostat 3 gun will work as an ignition system. It's designed to produce a stream of ions to kill the surface charge on things to help remove dust. It does produce a high voltage (probably by smacking a piezo element just like a BBQ ignitor) but not a visible spark since a spark would defeat its purpose.
I've used them before and I don't recall every seeing one actually generate a spark.

yes it definitely makes a spark a nice constant flow on pull and release of the handle. The handle is the ground and the needle in the tip is the completion of the circuit. I did some work on it tonight and have a pair of leads running out of it that i can place almost 1/2 inch apart and get constant sparking action.
