i have never built a potato gun yet but do you guys think that this could work as an ignition system if wired into a strip. I don't know how to post a link but if you google search it you can find the site. I just had one given to me that puts off quite a shock probable 10 times more than a grill ignitor or more.

what web site doesnt exist lukemc, funny as you are......

anyway, yes you can do that, it is called a spark strip.

to post a link just copy and paste the web site at the top. its a good idea, but you could only have maybe 4 or five sparks with a bbq, my cousin did it with 4 sparks and it worked fine.

if you can get your hands on a stun gun you can make it the legnth of the entire chamber.

ps-you may want to read my signature, it may add you in the event that you do build a cannon.

I don't think the zerostat 3 gun will work as an ignition system. It's designed to produce a stream of ions to kill the surface charge on things to help remove dust. It does produce a high voltage (probably by smacking a piezo element just like a BBQ ignitor) but not a visible spark since a spark would defeat its purpose.

I've used them before and I don't recall every seeing one actually generate a spark.

yes it definitely makes a spark a nice constant flow on pull and release of the handle. The handle is the ground and the needle in the tip is the completion of the circuit. I did some work on it tonight and have a pair of leads running out of it that i can place almost 1/2 inch apart and get constant sparking action.

You copy the link from your address bar, and paste it in your post.

The better way to do it is use the URL tags. So your typing will look like type what you want to call the link

I deserve brownie points now.

And no, the zerostat thing won't work.[/b]

Nisksw, cool. Could you post a picture of where / how you connected the wires?

Unfortunately, it looks like these things run $80~$120 each.
