The bevel is to narrow the edge between the ring and end of piston and provide a smooth transition from the chamber to the barrel.

I am very impressed. One comment on the tank. I wanted everything serviceable without cutting. The Schrader is only a 1/4 inch close nipple. The schrader or quick connect for rapid fire is screwed onto the nipple.dewey-1 wrote:Thanks Tech & Poland Spud;

1/4" nipple brazed/welded.
The disconnect, is it ARO or Industrial?
I could put a 3/8 to 1/4 hex bushing in, then it is completely changeable to any combinations. It can be Schrader or any disconnect the builder wants.
Seem like a better option to me.

The coupling is industrial. You could put in a bushing, but the original is simply a galvanized 1/4 inch pipe nipple. Well it was galvanized until I got it to brazing temperature.dewey-1 wrote:That can done!

The schrader is simply a tire valve with the rubber cut down some and then put in a brass 1/4 inch pipe cap and screwed on. With the rubber, no tape or other sealer is needed.
When I went to Arlington with the full size, they used another coupler so using their compressor was a mater of simply borrowing a fitting to fit. I later bought one. They are under $2 for the male. I keep a selection in my bag for traveling.

I took the fill valve measurements. See photo. The tire valve was turned down in a drill press to fit the hole in the cap. I left a shoulder on the valve just small enough to fit inside the 1/4 inch cap with a little pushing. The shoulder is only about 1/8th inch long. The rubber was trimmed flush with the end of the brass tube inside the rubber. The brass tube overall length is in the picture. This rubber shoulder provides a seal on the 1/4 inch pipe nipple without requiring any Teflon tape on the threads. It screws on airtight.
I bumped this so dewey would get the measurements for his library.

The modified one is Tech's version. 3/8 inch hole in 1/4 inch brass cap.
