Novacastrian: How about use whatever the heck you can get your hands on?
frankrede: Well then I guess it won't matter when you decide to drink bleach because your out of kool-aid.
...I'm sorry, but that made my year.

You'd think "proper" English is the one that is actually spoken England :ppaaiyan wrote:Why can't you people speak proper English?

No no no. Everyone knows that columbus really discovered America so people from England could get away from England because the monarchy was distorting and twisting their beautiful language. Americans speak the real English.jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:You'd think "proper" English is the one that is actually spoken England :ppaaiyan wrote:Why can't you people speak proper English?

I believe you will find that it is actually the monarchy's language in the first place - "The Queen's English".
There are some things in US english that mean something entirely different in UK english, which can lead to misunderstandings.
As one of the polite examples, the sign # is known as the hash key in the UK. In the US, the pound sign.
But in the UK, the pound sign means £.
So, you're on the phone to someone in America to talk a problem with some software you've had imported, and they say: "Right, now press the pound sign"... I'm sure you can guess the (lack of) result.
Does result in some difficulties.
