Hey guys, My combustion is getting very warm and I decided to get a fan to put in it. Im going to also make a whole control box for it to. But on my combustion I use hairspray. So at the end of the 4" chamber I have a screw cap. Can I put a fan right at the end of that side, and still be able to spray in the hairspray effectively without ruining the fan?

what i did was i just put the fan in, then removed it when spraying in fuel. ( i never secured it because it fit tightly)
also, the fan does NOT make the chamber cool down. if anything, it will cause it to heat up. with a spray and pray combustion it may help a llittle with proformance, but it is really geared to propane combustions.
all the fan does is mix the air, then pump old air out and new air in... it does not cool it down.

It would be best to make the fan removable via screws or whatever you have available. Computer case fans are pretty tough, but I imagine hair spray would clog things up eventually.
Consider getting a can of ether (engine starting fluid).

I beg to differ, my basic combustions that use starter fluid when a chamber fan is used the performance change is greatly noticable.hi wrote:what i did was i just put the fan in, then removed it when spraying in fuel. ( i never secured it because it fit tightly)

Hi,
I also agree that a chamber fan can make a great improvement in performance. It depends on how good the gun is without the fan - in a long and narrow chamber, like mine, a fan helps a lot.
Can you bolt it to the end cap, with some spacers between? Then, it will come out with the cap and not get sprayed with fuel. Half an inch behind a 2 inch fan was enough space for efficient circulation in my old comb. gun.

If you just wedge it in there, or behind the endcap it will be fine. i suggest a fuel alternative, but if you consist on useing hairspray just dont spray it directly at the fan. install a tab or something you can spray it at in front of the fan to collect the gunk.
