Heya
I have a 600cubic inch / 2.6 gal / 9.8L / whatever backpack tank that I currently use as a mobile recharge for my small pvc airsoft 'shotgun' (shoot it up and it will rain airsoft pellets for a couple seconds). At about 90 PSI (compressor was on low - it should handle up to 130 ish), it took about 12 seconds to get down to 40 PSI w/ the charge valve full and the firing ball valve cracked. I was wondering if this was enough to turn into a feasible bbmg, cloud at first, and maybe vortex if I can get my friend's dad to machine one for me. Then I'd really have an airsoft flamethrower
Feedback is well appreciated
Potential 'Flamethrower' (Backpack BBMG)
dosnt flamethrower somehow involve fire?

Hence the quotes around it, I think he wants to make a replica for use in air soft. I would just use a large C02 tank instead, it'd last longer and be less bulky.

My point is 'will it work for a bbmg?'
I just said 'flamethrower' b/c me & my friends call it 'flamethrower' so guess what it looks like
It being the tank
The 12 seconds was just a vague extrapolation, w/ a blowgun and the tiny barrel I'd imagine it'd last a lot longer.
And I'm completely clueless as to the whole C02 thing - especially how I would even get the stuff in the first place

Well then maybe C02 inst for you, but I would think it would work although how well it would work I don't know.

Another thing - It's kind of a lot but here i go:
How does the size/shape of the chamber affect the fps/rof and all that, and the same for the ammount of airflow and speed?
If I spent 50 bucks on it and got something akin to a mini, then I'd be pissed.
PS.
Another one - how does all this change with a vortex?

The bigger the chamber, the less pressure develops (if you maintain the same flow) so you get a reduced velocity and rate of fire.
You can avoid this problem by having your BB chamber already pressurised like so:
This way you can have as big a BB chamber as you want with no corresponding loss of performance, indeed since you have full air pressure available to the BBs from the start it will give you better performance than an ordinary blowgun fed strafer.

Hmm hwo can you obtain a c02 canister in australiaand then how do you refill it? because i like your idea of "flame thrower"

the tank will work, i used to power my vortex off a five gallon tank at 100psi but it only lasted about 1500bbs (not much on a vortex). now i have a 5lb co2 tank powering it which lasts thousands of rounds (possibly up to 30,000). the tank is meant to pressurize beer kegs, shouldn't be that hard to find one (with a reg) in Aus

lol yea do you have to fill them up at a special place or is it possible to buy the refilling equipment???? I heard you have to go to a welding place

As far as I know, they are usually filled from bigger tanks which would be brought from wherever they manufacture the gas. I'm not completely sure on that, but it seems logical. It is possible to buy high pressure air compressors for various purposes. The cheapest ones will run up about 2-3 grand.
Most towns have some sort of compressed gas depot, usually in something like an auto parts store. Some larger cities actually have compressed gas supply stores where you buy directly from the company, but these may be hard to find. CO2 is one of the easiest things to get filled, due to the popularity of paintball. Places like Walmart or a paintball store usually fill CO2 tanks.
Due to this being a non-paintball tank, I don't know if those places would fill it, and the compressed gas company would want to inspect the tank first if they didn't sell it to you. The solution to this is to buy the tank from where you want to fill it. Even in small towns, they can ship in whatever size of tank for almost any gas you want, even things like hydrogen.

Let me see if I've got this right:
Can you use C02 just like you would air? except the tank ofcourse. So would I just need a C02 tank and a regulator, then feed that to the bbmg? I know C02 is stored as a liquid inside the tank and evaporates, but would it pressurize a chamber?
Then once I have a tank, could I store it full?
And, I know I've asked a lot, but:
How does air-usage overall and pershot vary between a vortex and a cloud, and will those shots be stronger/faster/etc.?
