help
a few of my m8s have been making .22 zip guns they aint bad but i dont wanna make one of them instead i want to make a spring powered bb gun ive tried for a lil bit but they just dont have enouf power. i made a cannon outta a n old fire exthingusher(how eva its spelt) it shoots bits of thick wire but it gets annoying having to always refill it every 6 shots. so if anyone has any good ideas about a spring loaded bb please let me no.
also aint some slug guns powered by a spring with a bit on the end which causes preasure?

To build a powerful spring gun you need a well engineered piston and trigger mechanism that is far beyond the abilities of your average garage workshop. Stick to pneumatics, they are much easier to build and the practical power potential is far beyond that of springers.

Take A Look at Jacks very own Pen Gun if you want to build something like a "zip gun".
Otherwise go the hole hog and make a pneumatic rifle, Surprisingly destructive, more-so than a Zip-Gun, alot more .

He don't want a zipgun
You will be better suited to follow JSR's advice and just make a pneumatic air rifle, a lot easier and still very powerful.

To put things into perspective, let's take one of the most powerful spring rifles on the market - the Diana/RWS 350 Magnum. In spite of its massive contruction and the huge effort required to cock it, the maximum power it produces is below 25 ft/lbs. A simple pneumatic with a 3/4" barrel, a modded sprinkler valve at 100 psi will easily give you double that.

A combustion marble cannon would be pretty powerful if you made it long enough, though you'd still have to fill it for every shot.
If you won't want to use a pump you could buy a paintball CO2 tank and regulator but that sounds like it would be a little beyond your budget.

A marble firing combustion wouldn't be too hard. I've still got a mini I made that fires marble up to 200 fps with a 16" barrel and propane.
You might want to mess around with evbec to figure out what dimensions you want.
A marble weights .17 oz and has a diameter of .625 inches(?).
On an unrelated note, what the hell did your friends find that fits .22 cartridges? Please tell me they're not doing the whole "car antenna" thing

If built well, extremely unlikely.how likley is a combustible cannon going to combust and fork up my hands?
