:!: DONT DO THE FRYING PAN METHOD :!: one of my friends made it in my shed and he was stiring the mixture and it flashed up and burnt his face horribly,he had 2nd degree burns to his chin and nec and most of the skin on his face was burnt and going to the hospital and explaining wat we did he said it was and oil fire and a drum exploded or something....a smarter way to do it is to melt the sugar to make it like a toffe like syrup and take it off the heat and add the KNO3(potassium nitrate)to the sugar and stir and wait for it to cool, works just aswell and its much safer.

Another way to make smoke bombs is to make a 60%KNO3 40%sugar and grind it up in a morta and pesl to a fine powder and add corn syrup to it just enough to make it stick together and give that a go.

Read the download sticky at BCVids, the videos require the DivX codec.

add more potassium nitarte more potassium nitrate makes it burn quicker. More sugar makes it burn slower. and if they dont make a lot of smok make bigger ones. I use half a paper towel roll.

Its safe aslong as u dont add heat and another way to make it burn faster is to add more surface area so more of it can get to oxygen quicker and thus burning quicker and hotter.

ive also heard that a better mixture is heating up over a LOW flame 6 parts sugar and 1 part saltpetre. 1 pound can cover a whole city block and your saltpetre will last longer.

Smoke composition #1
Source: rec.pyrotechnics
Comments: Different sources mention differnt compositions. The most often mentioned one is given here.
Preparation: The mixture is most succesfull when prepared by melting the sugar and potassium nitrate together on low heat, but this requires good stirring, and there is a risk of accidential ignition. The molten mixture can be poured in cardboard containers and a fuse insterted while the mixture solidifies.

Potassium nitrate.................................50
Sugar.............................................50

Smoke composition #2
Source: rec.pyrotechnics (composition is an U.S. military smoke composition)
Comments: The mixture is difficult to ignite. Hexachloroethane is poisonous, and can be replaced by 72 parts PVC. This, however, makes the mixture yet harder to ignite. The zinc oxide can be replaced by titanium dioxide (2 parts ZnO replaced by 1 part TiO2). The smoke is slightly irritating and not suitable for indoor use.
Preparation:

Zinc oxide........................................45
Hexachloroethane..................................45
Aluminum..........................................10
