New PB Combustion (I'm back :D)
Phew!
It's been forever since I posted here...
Last time I visited was 8/9/2006!
I haven't saw many members I remember from the past either
Benstern, jrrdw, spudshot, saladtosser, BLB, Demon, BC-P, iamthewalrus, theexp, and PCGUY have posted pretty recently though... and I remember all of you
It's pretty funny that I'm still the 76th top poster after over a year and 5 months of not posting
So, finally on with the new gun...
Specifications:
Chamber - 1.5" Sch 40 - 5" length - ~1.59" ID
Barrel - 3/4" SDR 11 CPVC - 20" length - ~0.6818" ID
Ammo - .68* Paintballs
Ignition - Undecided, most likely a double gap BBQ igniter...
Paint - Royal Blue Spraypaint Enamel
All PVC is NSF-PW Lasco\Charlotte Schedule 40
Pictures:
As you see, I have quite a few igniter's to chose from... (and that is just the half of them)... I'm most likely going to buy a small (most likely 3/4") tee and make a Guano-Type grip with the BBQ igniter in the recess...
I'm probably going to drill the holes for the double spark gap soon...
Edit: Gun update
Double Spark gap installed... Grip painted....
All I need is some 10" cable ties or ~3" hose clamps so I can attach the grip... Then you'll see some damage pictures
Edit: Gun update
[FINISHED!!!!]
Spark gap:

The Final Product [Needs repainting on grip]:

Welcome back (although you dont know me).
Its seems like a very nice pb combustion. Havent realy seen one around lately.
You have a combustion source in mind yet?

It will most likely be an aerosol cannon for a while... Starter fluid, ether, AXE bodyspray, or a few other aerosols in my arsenal
I'll probably add a chamber fan, but first I need to fire it for inspiration
I already have multiple pneumatic solenoid PB guns...
I'm not very familiar with piezoelectric ignition on larger canons (not that this one is large, but compared to pill bottle combustions... I suppose), is it better to use a screw or small metal rod for the spark gap?
With my normal CAP bank ignition, I have used screws, but I borrowed the guano grip idea from Burntlakte and they use small rods for the spark gap.
Nice to meet you by the way! Why do you ask people to try and translate that sentence in your signature?
I don't know much Russian\Ukrainian, but I know the first part means Ukraine has not died.
Is the second part "and I have existed for potato a long time"?
Sorry... I did the best I could... If you want me to translate german.. I can do that pretty well

I dont really know about the metal rods ur using for a spark gap, but if it makes a spark, its fine with me.
Im surpirsed, you are the first one to do well on that without using a translator. The second part is not exactly right but it might be translated that way. For my intetions it means: Long live the potatoe.
How did you know that by the way. You take language classes.
And yes its ukrainian.

Hey Schmanman
My math teacher knows Russian, and he taught me a little bit... I learned most of the little I know from a foreign exchange student from Ukraine that I was helping in German class (he was in a lower level German class than me).LikimysCrotchus5 wrote: Im surpirsed, you are the first one to do well on that without using a translator. Ще не вмерла Україна is a pretty common Ukrainian sentence (I believe)...
i Живу довго Картопля was pretty hard to translate... I didn't known "Картопля", and I had to figure out "довго"...
I tried my best to figure it out as "and live a long time potato" (probably what a translator would have spit out if I had used one...). Then I tried to make sense out of it as "and I live long by the potato", but "and long live the potato" makes much more sense now.

Hmm thats intersting
Картопля means potatoe and it is sounded "kartoplia" in english.
Ще не вмерла Україна is the begining of our anthem so it is sounded
"shche ne vmerla Ykraiina"
Hey you tell your foriegn exchange student, "dobryden" which means "good day" which is equivalent to the english "hello"

Ah, I would, but he just left back for Ukraine a few weeks ago...
I actually figured out Картопля by sounding it out as "kartoplia" in English, which reminded me of Kartoffel in German, which means potato, then I figured it much be potato, since this forum is about potato\spud guns
Foreign languages are fun
It's pretty common for foreign languages to borrow off each other, and then for Britain\USA (English nations) to steal from them all
I think I'm going to visit my next-door neighbor (a plumber) to see if he has any 3/4" tee's that I can use for a BBQ igniter holder

Yes it is very common.
I have have noticed that some spanish words are the same as ukrainian ones and translate to ukrainian with the same meaning (i take spanish)
But if i used the word "Бараболя" you really wouldnt know what it means.
(potato also)
There are sometimes a couple different words for 1 thing.
What was the ukrainian kid's name?

Nice paint!
Has it been that long??
Makes me wonder how long I have been at this hobby...
Before this site I used to visit airpower.net...It doesn't even exist anymore!

Man it's hard to remember everyones name... I definitely remember talking to all of you, but I was searching for avatars... Mainly remembered names that stuck out, and avatars...
I do remember MrCrowley, BTB (brian the brain) [idk if you went by this, but this is what I called you ], I believe I know noname, but I don't know if we talked often, mainly about pneumatics?...
It's pretty odd that I didn't remember you at first MrCrowley, because I can DEFINITELY remember exact conversations with you about high prices PVC pipe in New Zealand...
I've mainly been in school and paused on spud gun making to say at least
I've also been heavily into pyrotechnics and rocketry.
Edit:
By the way (trying to post part of gun for every post )... Here's a picture of my grip in-progress:
It's pouring down snow outside now, so I can't paint it at the moment... I plan on adding an end cap to the backside, and to the bottom anyways, and putting them on beforehand would be easier to paint...
Tomorrow I will dremmel the top of the grip so it fits snug against the chamber, paint the grip, and silicon in the already tight-fitting igniter...
I have the dremmel, painting room, hose clamps, and electrical wires\accessories at my other house to finish the grip and add on a double spark gap...
I'm also debating on rubber-coating the gun instead of paint for an added, weird rugged look... (Similar to rubber car undercoating, and rubbery truck bed "Rhino lining")

You mean those topics where I asked if I could sleeve DWV with DWV or something, because I was being arrogant and would listen to you guys about needing pressure rated pipefrogy wrote: It's pretty odd that I didn't remember you at first MrCrowley, because I can DEFINITELY remember exact conversations with you about high prices PVC pipe in New Zealand...
Boy were those the days, must be about a year and a half ago now.
What ever happened to Carlbelcher?
