In the world of spuds today...business is slow but out side it is beginning to warm up and the snow is beginning to melt. The mud seasons will soon begin...
I finally got my epoxy for my pistons and will begin to mold them soon...
And last of all I just realized Ragnarök is equivalent to Armageddon... Just of the Celtic verity...nice cheery name Rag.... 8)

I didnt do a world of spuds today yesterday so this will be a in the world of spuds yesterday.
I started my burst disk marble firing gun(17ci metal chamber, 3ft by 1/2in pvc marble barrel, 3ft by 1/2in sdr21 paintball barrel and a 1/2in union.
And more experimenting with my autopiston.
I have tried to mod tyhe pop off to let out more air when the pressure goes over its limit because the sprinkler it is actuating doesnt actuate very reliably it sometimes works and other times doesnt.

That's true - by it's nature, it's unpredictable, and therefore can only be approximated at. However..._Fnord wrote:The problem with potatoes is the Cd changes rapidly during flight. <snip> It's just too random to pin solid numbers on.
Although a nice idea, it's not entirely practical. That doesn't gel well with the other parts of the programming. For an output I would give a min/max range rather than a solid number.
It needs a single "average" value that can act as decent approximation.
However, for those people with chronos, or even just a sound recording time measurement, there's going to be a tool that allows you to take a series of velocity measurements at two different distances from the muzzle, then averages out your results, and working out based on the distance between the two measurements, it calculates a co-efficent of drag from that.
In theory, I could go out and use the tool myself to get an estimate, but the weather is grottier than a sick troll's handkerchief right now.
While I'm at it... yes, I wouldn't have thought people could be as stupid as your sig link suggests.
@Jared: It's actually the Norse variety, but yes, it's a version of the apocalypse. Indication of what tends to happen when I do anything - whether it goes right or wrong.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Probably the best way to come up with a suitable Cd would be to measure the muzzle velocity and hang-time for a spud fired straight up. You can then extract an "effective Cd" for the ammo. This should average out the affects of tumbling.Ragnarok wrote:That's true - by it's nature, it's unpredictable, and therefore can only be approximated at._Fnord wrote:The problem with potatoes is the Cd changes rapidly during flight. <snip> It's just too random to pin solid numbers on.
That's been on my "to do" list for a couple years now...
In the world of spuds to day I used my gun for science fair. It sucked pretty hard so to relieve stress is hung two pans from a tree in my front yard and blasted a few holes in em at 130 psi. holes in metal are just so fun!
GAHH ITWOST (damn catchy) I hate crowly for getting to see the wizzaard of OZ! *blows the shit out of a few more pans*

In the world of spuds today I completed a very large burst disk mortar that will be the showcase section pretty soon.
I also worked on my autopiston more, its showing promise.
I shot my small burst disk marble gun a lot today too and I am very impressed with it. I have been using it like mad the last few days.
I also put a very thick backstop(3in of ply nailed together) on the back of my garage as it is my main shooting range and the wall is dotted with holes and my dad noticed so he made me put this up. I hope it holds up, it would be a royal pain in the arse if it doesnt because then I have to take it off, and replace it with something even thicker.

ITWOST I decided to break out the blue blaster as the weather has been reaching 60 F and because u just got my new AA BBQ Ignitor today and get her all tuned up for spudding season. I decided to pull everything out the chamber and see what condition it was in and I'm glad I did. This baby needs an overhaul. I pulled the bolts for the spark gap out and was suprised to see a nice brown layer covering the rear set. The front set was better but i could still see some carbon build up. As I pulled my hand out I also noticed that there was some build up transfered to my hand.
I pulled the chamber fan out which is in really good condition but the wires coming out of the chamber were melted down to bare wire so I've gotta come up with a new way to run those wires. I was thinking about a through wall stud system but I dont know. I'm integrating the ignition switch into the forward handle and the power switch for the fan into the rear grip. For the spark gaps I was thinking of working up a spark gap system and was wondering if anyone had any really cool designs. I want just absolutley tons of sparks so if anyone has a design let me know.
EDIT: So after screwing around with the chamber a little bit more, I decided that a new chamber for this season would be good. It's still the same dimension a 4" x 24" ABS which was gonna be the start of a co axial but i wanna fix this one first. I decided that my propane metering system would be set up a little bit differently with it being non removable as it was before. I also decided to put set screws in for the chamber fan so that fan wont move, it consists of 2 #6 machine screws at 180 degrees from each other drilled and tapped in resting against of the flats of the fan. Will update the blue blaster page when the new chamber is done.

Sorry for the double post
Here's the video of Zakk chucking his guitar into the mosh

And here's the pick, with my ticket and Acer Arena wristband:
And here's a picture I took, it'd look way better if I had a decent camera and some lighting not a 2mp phone camera.
....ITWOST...
I cut both my index fingers with my pocket knife and find it difficult to type
I also did some plinking with my mini-coax.
