I know my pirate was pretty damn loud.That was the same kind of gun, but with a shorter .50 barrel.

You could get a 1/2-3/4"bend.That would be a slightly better handle.
And the easiest thing to do is just paint it a nice wood colour.

i would suggest you making a mold from a toy gun with plast paris.. then laying ur current gun in the mold and covering it with resin to give it a real look

There's a reader you can download on polishing. Also they sell little kits for plating.
Nickel or silver plated would be my choice. Depends on how much time you want to spend on it. You could make up for the time you saved building it, if you wanted, haha!

Your airgun is a real beauty. It has inspired me and im sure many others to scrap thier projects and attempt to make a beast like that! please can you tell me exactly were the piston is im going to do some rework on my latest gun. If you dont mind i would like to copy your chamber (sort of) and the piston. Sorry but i dont know all the vocab on pipes as i am a knewb. also did you soldier coppper into compression fittings? anways my main question is-if you use a ball valve for a trigger, a piston your siza, a chamber slightly smaller or longer, and a spring opening mechanism, will the faster opening of the valve ever effect the preformannce of the gun signifigantly. I am making a Lee Enfield like musket (or rifle if i can rifle the barrel!) Its bolt action/breech loaded, spring opend, with 160 psi max operating pressure. main lethal amunition is a AAA battery( I know they arnt very areo dynamic or accurate) and plastic pellets to metal pelets to paint balls for tracers, fun and squirrel killing. I havent actually killed a squirrel. Please make it simple as i am only thirteen with 30 pounds to spend.

lol almost forgot, sorry about double posting but, this may seen stupid, is the piston in front or behind the ball valve. I think its the front but not sure, just need a clayrification. Also please reply to my previous post as well.

The piston will need to be in front of the ball valve. This link will help explain how it works. Mitchza89 will have to answer your other questions.

Just curious; have you built a pneumatic, yet? The reason I ask is because it may be wise to get experience with other, simpler valves before attempting a piston valve.

Hey there mate. If this is your first gun, I'd advise something a little more simple. Unless you have a good know how, piston gun's can be very difficult to work with unless you know what your doing but if your confident in making one, then be my guest!

The pipe was not soldered into the compression fitting. It's simpley been used as a regular compression fitting to keep it all in place (just tighten it and the compression olive is crushed against the pipe).

The piston is located in the nipple thats connected between the ball valve and the brass union. Making the ball valve spring loaded won't really do much at all. The piston I have is the perfect fit and so even opening the ball valve a tiny fraction sets the gun off with a loud POP.

They ammo you're looking to shoot should be fine. If you have anymore questions about the gun, I'm more then free to help out

(Just to let ya know, it's against Spudfiles to talk about hunting of any sorts with spudguns. I just don't wanna see ya get in trouble!)

now about your gun Mitchza89- I'm a bit cut for time and didn't read all the suggestions but why not take a piece of wood, cut out the shape you want, and put the metal inside it and really make it look like a flintlock?? If you're not sure how to do that, I can help you out. i think it would benefit alot from that, instead of painting it to look like wood, the real wood would be showing which would look pretty cool IMHO

Haha don't mention it mate. We were all fresh spudders once ourselves and we all took our fair share of crap flung at us for not knowing something thats simple as can be to someone with a bit of experience. Most new people on here really don't take the time to look up something that is explained in 100 different ways on this site. For example. "How to mod a sprinker valve?". There are a hell of alot of new members coming through who don't bother to search and as a result, all the veterans on this site cop alot questions that can be answered very easily by yourself if you take a bit of time. It just gets a bit annoying when thet have to answer the same question about 100 times a day, so don't take it personally mate I'm always happy to answer any question that someone might have.

Ilovetoblowthingsup, I'm gonna try and get myself a nice old air rifle stock and polish it up. Or get a nice peice of 4x2 and carve one myself and give it a nice thorough french polish .

Oi lad's I've discovered something awesome. I wanna make another marble gun but I'm lazy. So I stuck 1m of 20mm copper to the end of the Musket, pumped to 300psi effortlessly and in no time and shot it. The power could be compared to a well modded sprinker valve at 120 or so psi and because of the high pressure - low chamber size, IT WAS DEAD SILENT! :D:D

lol, i will use a piston but a faster ball opening valve. I will only use a ball valve in residential areas (my garden) since it is a lot more quiet from what i hear an less powerful. I have discovered that cardboard boxes filled with mud and leaves make the perfect backstop. All you spuder's should try
