I loved the movie Ben Hur
He's been fighting Alzheimer's disease the last few years as well as had a bout with prostate cancer in the 90s. Probably complications from one or the other.Blitz wrote:Kind of a shock, they haven't disclosed the cause of death yet (kinda surprised). http://movies.msn.com/movies/article.as ... 8>1=7701
He lived a full life...touched many people in a positive way.

He was the president of the NRA up until 2003.NRA-ILA website wrote: In June 1998, Heston was elected president of the National Rifle Association, for which he had posed for ads holding a rifle. He delivered a jab at then-President Clinton, saying, "America doesn't trust you with our 21-year-old daughters, and we sure, Lord, don't trust you with our guns."
He was a great American, and he’ll be greatly missed.
May the Good Lord be with his family during this trying time.
The old hymn, “Shall We Gather At The River”, comes to mind.General George S. Patton, Jr wrote: It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.

A great man indeed, that some are using his death as an opportunity to attack the gun lobby is a shame.

Indeed…Blitz wrote:Those are some absolutely absurd comments being made there, JSR.It definitely speaks much about the world we now live in.
Although:
Edit:hubertgrove, the 5th guy down in Jack's link wrote: Not only a commanding presence on-screen but a powerful and honest personality off it. He was one in a great tradition of American libertarians, a tendency that most Europeans have never been able to grasp, that saw him not only stand side-by-side with the National Rifle Association but also march with Martin Luther King long before Hollywood's liberals began considering Civil Rights to be a fashionable cause.
Most of the anti-gun comments were made by British, it’s said ‘cause the British used to love their guns.
Why, there was a time in Britain when no self respecting man didn’t have a gun, and all the upper class regularly held shooting competitions and The Hunt was a respected sport.
Not just Britain though, tis the whole world that has fallen, America included… make’s the old Redemption story sound sweeter every day…

Yeah, there's always a few good people wherever you go... But finding them can be more difficult than one may think. Especially on the internet.
Reminds me of the quote from Indiana Jones and the last Crusade, where Indy and Henry go to Berlin to get his diary back, and Henry says:
"My boy, we are pilgrims in an unholy land."

And I don’t quite agree with you. If they don’t like America’s acknowledgement of the God given right to bare arms they should:
a) leave the U.S. if they live here
or b) stay away from the U.S. so they don’t have to be offended.
All the bill of rights does, the Second Amendment included, is acknowledge Man’s God Given Rights.
Mind your manners, you should be more respectful in a thread morning the death of a man that you know full well owned guns.THUNDERLORD wrote: I heard people who own guns eat children though.

But it's far easier to complain to have things bent in your favor, and THAT is the American way.judgment_arms wrote:I believe you mean “shot”.POLAND_SPUD wrote:people who are against guns should be shoot...
