So I am definitely not new to spudfiles but I haven't posted in a long time due to the fact that I don't think my previous cannon was very appreciated. I'm considering between building two types of pneumatics. The first being a completely revolutionary revolver using some of the designs from clide's gb semi, such as the valving design. The revolver would most likely shoot either golf balls, paint balls, or something else that would be very quick to reload a chamber. It would aslo be about the size of what everyone sees as the size of a grenade launcher. OR I would build an absolutely massive one capable of propelling full gatorade and coke bottles about a mile or so. I don't know if the physics of a gatorade or coke bottle would allow this but its about the size of barrel that I would make or possibly something that could shoot other large objects. So if ya'll would be so kind as to give me a little direction on where you would like to see a cannon built that would be great.

Well welcome back. I am new myself but have been reading for years.
personally I'd like to see your revolver design.Especially if it's large bore.
could you give some more details? thanx

I don't see why you shouldn't get a lot more positive feed back if you link to it again now that spudfiles has grown in these three years since you originally posted it.

As to a new design, I think a working revolver would be a lot mroe satisfying than a large cannon. A gatorade bottle would need to be weighter with solid material to give a forward centre of gravity and good ballistic coefficient necessary for stable and long range flight, and to hit a mile it would have to leave the muzzle at a considerable rate of knots, implying good valve, high pressure and long barrel.

Thats quite far for a such a lightweight projectile... unless it was still full... but either way as JSR said it would need a weight...

Oh yeah dont forget to to drink it first, then refill with water and fire away... wouldnt want to waste such a fine rejuvenating substence... (which you could be drinking as you watch bottles fly)

Though water is the greatest drink there is...

Your previous cannon was awesome, people said it was awesome and stuff.
Why did you say you dont think its very appreciated? Seriously...
As for your question, make a revolver kinda thing, like semi automatic.

Unless you added fins of some sort, a bottle full of fluid would tumble end over end and that would greatly reduce your range. If you had to fill the bottom 1/4th with concrete on the other hand, you'd have a projectile with a high enough sectional density to go far, while still travelling in a stable manner.

This is interesting...I'm working o an massive cannon where my original objective was to send a coke can 800 yards. But even with two four inch five foot chambers and a 20 foot long 4inch barrel at 200 psi won't quite do the trick....

Tons of massive cannons have been built...it would be nice to see a few more revolvers or other more creative designs...

Something like the M51 Skysweeper 75mm AA gun, with twin revolver mags  :D

Okay so it sounds like ya'll want to see me make an attempt at the revolver, it'll more than likely be CO2 powered so that i can have long run times with it and not worry about lugging around a compressor. (instead i will just have a few small co2 tanks to worry about). its not going to be some crazy fast shooting gun or an extremely powerful one but i'm going to have it basically work exactly the way that a revolver should work, with one input it will fire and when that is released it will go to the next position and you can fire again, so on and so forth.... i'm going to build it as close in looks to a grenade launcher so that it just looks killer, i'll begin to post pictures when i have built a little bit...i'm not good with paint so i can't do any design ideas to show ya'll how its going to work but it'll get done

Is this revolver going to be single action, or double action? I'm a fan of double action my self.
