Thanks for the link. I might switch to my go-kart because I'm scared of hitting 50mph+ on a two wheeler...
What makes motors blow up? Are the gas motors the only ones that blow up? I was thinking of making a homemade electric motor with two powerful neodynium magnets, loooooong copper wire, and a nice and powerful battery.
How can I get the sound of a jet? Home come motorcycles make a farting noice but jets make "jet" sound?

you need at least 5 to keep you from falling, 5 good ones
if you really wanna push it with air

it uses a boat outboard motor as a powerplant
wonder if you can mount wheels on one... not for a car, rather a round table with three of those...

Have you guys ever seen a bar stool racer? I don't know what kind of engines they use but i seen axles for sale on ebay, imagine sitting on a bar stool and raceing around a track trying to out run all your buddies, on bar stools!
I got the plans for them, I was going to make on soon, they are really cool!jrrdw wrote:Have you guys ever seen a bar stool racer? they use go kart engines. I saw one at the Detroit autorama with a motorcycle engine.an actual 2 cylinder motorcycle engine !! it would be much too fast, I think It was just for show.
EDIT : someone needs to make a leather ottoman racer. It would be like a luxury bar stool racer for two. It would be a go kart or bar stool racer chassis with an "art van furniture blowout" ottoman bolted to it

I saw on a program here is Australia a few blokes modded a gopher they took the usual seal off and put a recliner (is that how to spell it?)seat on it LOL. Maybe you could try that
you can not use a lawnmower engine because it would have to be on its side and no oil would get to it and it would constantly over heat. you need an engine with a horizontal shaft. If you are looking to go 20mph an electric motor will not do you any good. keep in mind how fast the motor spins. if you put a motor were the shaft spins 60 mph then the gearing ration would have to be ridicucoulus or else you wouldnt move any where, so that rules out alot of yard work engines. no matter what engine you use you are going to need a very small sprocket on the engine and a very big one on the back wheel because a 20 inch bike wheel is huge and it take alot to get it to to a complete spin. what I would do is I would not put the engine near the bottom bracket where the cranks are. rather I would put an engine on a book carrier over the back wheel so it is in a safe position. I thought about doing this once and believe me it is a much bigger project then it sounds but if you can get it to work its a blast.
He could use a 2 stroke, that would eliminate the risk of burning it out. But, he would need even more gear reduction. Or, maybe he could find a way to have multiple gears. I don't think a chainsaw would be big enough, but I have seen 5hp snowblowers with 2stroke engines.
Gear drive would be a problem, you would need a clutch of some sort, likely a centrifugal clutch. But, they don't make many for 2 cycle engines. This would leave belt drive as an option. That would be good since you could have a belt tensioner to tension or slacken the belt, and act like a clutch.
I would suggest putting the engine as far down as possible, just to make it easier to balance. I'm amazed nobody has suggested this, but....
