I found the spudfiles and uksgc forums while googling spudguns. I really do enjoy reading some of the topics and some of the creative cannons here, but while there is a lot of information here it lacks a mature base. I'm not saying this forum is immature, it is just based more to serve teens than adults over 35. So, are there any other active forums, yahoo groups, or even good old-fashioned newsgroups on the net?
I would have to say keep googling.
As far as spudding forums go, this is as good (and mature) as it gets. The information here is dead-accurate, and if you can cut through the crap topics and posts by k3wls, there's a lot of good stuff here.
The base of this forum is mature, it's all the n00bs that are signing up and making the place look like an IM conversation that makes it seem otherwise. If only SF was moderated more like Roguesci...

at 51 I tend to mostly agree .grumpy wrote:don't know about other forums but i find that the teens on this are generally more mature than most grown up i know. and i am 50 yrs old and not a teen. even if my wife does say i sometimes act like a 12 yr old.
It seems that older,"mature" folks sometimes lose the "what if I try this " attitude.

You'll find more then a few members over 40 here at Spudfiles, and they fit right in. You wouldn't be able to tell who are the teens and who are the adults over 35.swinging_dic_tater wrote:I found the spudfiles and uksgc forums while googling spudguns. And I'm not saying that adults over 35 post like teenagers. It just seems that this hobby brings a lot of people together, doesn't matter where you live, what race you are or how old you are. It just seems that everyone gets along quite fine.
As you would've noticed our grammar is generally far better then most forums out there. Mainly for the purpose of how dangerous this hobby can be and we want to come of as a professional site. But a few new members can ruin that look.
I'm sorry but this site is as professional and mature as they come.
I'm 16 by the way.

Wow, Crowley, I honestly had no idea that you were only sixteen years old. Your maturity in many situations far overreaches some adults'.
edit- I find it funny, that I comment on a topic regarding maturity, and I look back at my post, and realise my new avatar is, well, pretty immature. It was for hoots and giggles. However, do not let it take away the seriousness of the above. Have a nice day 'yal!

If I remember rightly MrC, you are just 3 days older than me.

50 yrs old here. I find the discussions tend to lean somewhat toward a teen perspective although not all the time or abrasively so...or maybe I'm just used to it.
While I've certainly been around the block a few times, I still see the world very much the same as I did when I was 20...just a little less brain damage now...
I agree with DYI...You'll find the info found on Spudfiles state-of-the-art for the hobby.

I've got news for ya, Pal... This is a hobby that is dominated by teens and young(er) adults. ANY forum that caters to this hobby is going to be heavy on the teen crowd. As they say, it is what it is.swinging_dic_tater wrote:I'm not saying this forum is immature, it is just based more to serve teens than adults over 35.
So what about the teens? Some of them are morons. Some of them really know their stuff. The good news is that it's pretty easy to differentiate them. Those that make an attempt to spell correctly and use something that resembles standard punctuation? They've got a head on their shoulders. Those that don't seem to know what the shift key is used for and seem to think that "ur" is an improvement upon "you're?" Them's your morons.
As for Mr. Crowley? I don't believe he's 16. No 16 year old would know who Randy Rhodes is.
Oh, and I'm 37 so I guess I qualify for your >35 requirement (barely).

I'm not sure I understand how a forum can be "based more to serve teens". What does a forum based to serve older adults do...dispense Viagra?
What we do serve the most accurate spudgun information you'll find on the internet, not minding age. If you're talking about some peoples' lack of grammar getting to you...well I dunno, I see some adults who write like they're 12. And I guess some of the humor can get a bit immature, but again, I see adults all the time who like to laugh at farts (hey, they're funny!).
Depends on your definition of "mature", I suppose.

Good one jrrdw. I am nearly 16, and I try to be as mature as possible when it comes to the discussion of spudguns. They can, and will hurt people if misused. There is not sense in writing up bogus to make yourself feel good, when somebody on the other end could get hurt because they listened to it. Besides, everybody with a brain would correct "said person" anyway.
LMFAO!!!! Holy $h|t. Speaking of maturity.... Holy.... I really did lmao there. Good one.D_Hall wrote:Where is this other forum and how do I subscribe?TurboSuper wrote:What does a forum based to serve older adults do...dispense Viagra?
