Triple Thunder - Noise Cannons

Now I'm wondering how you constructed the 4" male adapter on back. The 4" male adapter itself doesn't look ordinary, plus there is no hex on the larger bushing.

Same question as pimpman what is that strange adapter setup.

It's a 4" Male threaded/4" Socket - 4" spig/2" socket reducer bushing - 2" spig/1" Female threaded reducer bushing - 1" iron close nipple - 1" Female threaded pvc ball valve.

The PVC supplier doesn't mold the hex on this particular 4"/2" reducer. It fits in deep and flush.

The picture links are fine..I just checked them. There was probably something up with the connection you were on.

I hope you won't be too dissappointed...as is typical with video cameras the audio is highly compressed during recording so the you're unlikely to be very impressed by what you hear in the Youtube.

I have a sound db meter and am considering taking a video of the meter in fast peak mode during a shot. Trust me, these things are very loud. Shooting in warm humid summer time night air seems to sound the best

I might build a burst disk noisemaker too in a while, to scare off the birds that awake me every morning with irritating whistles, or to counter-noise the rest of the residents in this neighborhood here who tend to make a lot of noise these days while rebuilding their gardens.
I was planning to use the largest cam lock I can find and a ridiculously large chamber.

I could make you up an electronic module so you could fire these from a standard lighting desk for your musical presentations...

The shooter in particular. If you're 30 feet away and to the rear you're fine as far as the ear ringing is concerned.

The 3" camlock throws out a mighty blow with these guns. Trust me, as fun as it sounds, I now actually sort-of dread pressing the trigger...even with ear plugs. A stunning shock wave surrounds you in a macabre sort of way... Don't make them any larger, unless you'll be remotely triggering them

Thanks for the offer!. It's a DMX/audio standard XLR cable, but I didn't incorporate intelligent DMX communication into the guns....although that would be a wonderful idea. It's a simple fire by shorting pin 2 to pin 3...all of the stun gun triggers are wired to pin 2, +14.4v is on pin 3...voila. The nice thing is the 9v regulators in each stunner that allows them to be externally fired with 14.4v.

Actually the mythbusters proved that a dolphin in the area, even their robotic dolphin made the sharks shy away from attacking.

I'm sure you could come up with an underwater sonic transducer and frequency range that sharks would be particularly sensitive to...nice idea there...

Hey, can you fire one underwater?

Now there's a thought....

The stun gun probes and the stun gun itself are not insulated from the water so I'm thinking you wouldn't want to be anywhere near that thing in the water when triggered. Might be a little like an electric eel... or a lot actually.

But theoritically, supposing the ignition could be insulated properly. The only thing you would have to change would be the burst disk characteristics to compensate for the new pressure differences under water.

The disks I use are in the 65 psi range, +or - a tad. I can occasionally fully contain a detonation with an 80 - 90 psi disk. A disk for use under water would need to take into consideration the depth at which you were firing. At 10 m deep, the pressure is 15 psi greater than atmospheric pressure. Therefore your disks could be thinner by 15 psi, IF you're shooting at 10 m depth.

Twould being an interesting experiment for sure...

Just be sure to take into account how much more efficiently water transmits shockwaves. Remember "shooting fish in a barrel"? You'll want to be above water when you set it off, or at least relatively far away from it.
