Ouch that's right...you would have the equivalent of small depth charge... Probably not a recommended experiment after all.DYI wrote:Just be sure to take into account how much more efficiently water transmits shockwaves. Remember "shooting fish in a barrel"? Weelll then, the comparison makes even less sense now... why don't we just let this one fade on out into the ether....magnum9987 wrote:You compete with Jesus christ? Hmm that could indeed be an unpleasant experience. You mean that the water will directly kick trough the shockwave instead of damping it like air? (because water is incompressible)starman wrote:Ouch that's right...you would have the equivalent of small depth charge... Didnt think about that.
Weeell you could always borrow some deep sea diving armour.
I don't think I've seen a good cannon clip of being fired under a decent amount of water.
Wonder how high the resulting geyser would be...

I was commissioned a couple of weeks ago to produce 2 more of these baby's as standalone (not chainable) spudguns/noise cannons. They will be branded with 2 different company names and used for marketing events, ribbon cuttings, etc. They are 2" camlock breech models and are identical units to the original but without the air compressor quick air out/pressure test option and without the chainable ignition taps.
Thought I would show them here, before they left my possession for good.

That is great. I knew they looked clean/professional.
Do you have or plan on a personal webpage to market them?

Thanks Thunder. No website plans at the moment, just local word-of-mouth stuff and people I know. I'm a little squimish about potential liability problems. When shooting burst disk golfball shots, they have a very powerful, almost military feel... Frankly, I wouldn't want these to fall in just anyone's hands with my name all over them.THUNDERLORD wrote:That is great. I knew they looked clean/professional.

I guess I could provide them with a 3' potato barrel only....keep the danger factor down some.

jesus mother thats the most complicated thing i've ever seen
you crazy dawg
and it doesn't require barrel?

Not in noise cannon mode...that's how the noise is created...no ammo or barrel load...the energy is directed into heat and noise only. The noise made is quite massive. Even with ear plugs it was jarring my brains loose at July 4 celebration...nosebleedXD wrote:and it doesn't require barrel?
If I attach a barrel, they become a high performance combustion guns. Golf ball shots using my 5' golf ball barrel/burst disk and one of these units is actually pretty scary.
Then you have not seen alot.nosebleedXD wrote:jesus mother thats the most complicated thing i've ever seen
If you open up the hood of a car, you will already see something way more complicated then this...
And thats just a simple example
Its simply a combustion with some advanced things, which you will learn to recognize while you read stuff on this forum.
I understand that you do not know what all that stuff on the gun is for yet, and so the thing may look very complicated for you, but I know you will understand what everything is in some time.

lol my bad? thought it shot stuff out and i guess i've never seen better guns
After reading the discussion here about firing it underwater, I decided to do a VERY small scale test. I used my mini burst disk noisemaker, and attached it to an ice-cream container through a hole in the bottom (to keep most of the water off the bare sparker wires). I didn't use enough blu tac to seal it, but it worked anyway. Pay attention to the slow-mo and watch how much the container flexes. Pretty amazing considering the size of this thing. Somone has just GOT to try this full-size.

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.
