here's a gun i just finished up over the weekend
its a bolt action that fires 1inch wooden plugs by my guess at about 400 fps
Specs 1inch tank stock of the gun
1inch modified sprinkler
1inch by 2 1/2" barrel
powered by propane usually at 40psi but can go higher
accuracy is pretty good you could hit a man size target at 200 feet
not sure how many shots ill get out of the propane but its only 4 bucks a bottle

Is the gun pneumatic? and it just uses propane for power. If thats the case , I was going to do the same thing with my cannon. It would be a portable air source. The only reasion I ask is I thought it was a combustion because of the propane.

That's exactly two of the mods I was planning for the Thunderpup before I gave it away (to a good home). Breech loaded and auto refill...cool!
I still might modify it anyway.

do you know yet how many shots you get out of that tank. Also, when you get a new one, id think oxygen would be a better idea. Its usually sold together, and maybe around the same price. It has a faster sos and yield better results. also, you have a schrader on there as well?

Oxygen is more expensive 3-4 times more expensive, has reverse threads and the SOS is irrelevent on a low powered pneumatic anywayskoolaidman wrote:nice cannon.

That's a stout little gun you have there card! It's kind of crazy but propane is a lot cheaper than CO2 canisters. I like the paint job and neat layout. Any idea how many shots one propane canister will provide at say 50 psi?
You could install a regulator right after the propane tank and would allow an autoload after each shot!!!
Be leary of flammable possibilities...I'm not sure the muzzle flash thing would be that good an idea. How about a closer view of your bolt action breech loader?

interesting choice of power.... bit of muzzle flash maybe !! lo. maybe you could incorperate a sparker in the barrel for extra power !! lol BOOM !!

this was going to be my method of filing for my next qev marble rifle with a gate valve open enough so when it is fired it fills whilst reloading.

If you put a pop-off valve on the pilot, couldn't you the air firing system automatic?
my only concerns with this are: propane, at least in the US, WREAKS
and propane is flammable.
Great idea, I was thinking of making Clide's GB semi in 6mm and using propane. but then I realized that I would only get around 2000 shots per bottle, and if I fired a lot, there would be a fire hazard and it would stink. time to find a scuba tank...

and a regulator. Propane peaks at around 90 to 100psi, which means it doesn't need a regulator. The only fire hazard that is going to exist is if there is a spark nearby.ramses wrote:...time to find a scuba tank...
I think using propane as a pneumatic propellant (besides its weight) is an exceptional idea.
