Reminds me of the plasma pistol from halo..jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:Very nice, reminds me of this bullpup pistol style design from Ghost in the Shell:
Lovin' it. Keep it with a short barrel, all the more concealable.

That's not quite what my thoughts about the mag were - I was speculating the shape with that sharp 45 degree bend would be prone to jamming. I was also wondering where the ejection port is supposed to be (or is it supposed to be caseless?)jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:It would certainly be a more balanced hold, though the mag might be a bit awkard.
However, yes, it would be inconvenient, particularly as there's no "base" to the magazine that you could to push up on when loading.
... You know what, screw it. It would make a fantastic look for a coilpistol, and with the extra length, more practical than where I tried adapting real-life pistol designs (also more flexible too, given I can be a bit inventive with the sizing and design).
Exploding manga nerd friends be damned, I'm off to start scrawling some designs.
One last thing though...
Actually, I think it would look fantastic on you. :thumbleft:I would object to the blue nail polish too.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

The jamming issue was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it. Reliable feeding is just as unlikely in the similar fiction Seburo C-25A:Ragnarok wrote:I was speculating the shape with that sharp 45 degree bend would be prone to jamming. No suggestion it was caseless rounds - caseless rounds don't eject cases by definition, and for a fictional weapon, that goes against the rule of cool.

It was actually smoother before I painted it.The ( old) spraypaint came sprayed out large drops. What is that on the grip is it just some raised epoxy that wasnt flattened?
that's just the shine of wet paint.
I'll try and polish it with a cloth, or repaint some parts.
When I change the trigger guard, I'll have to paint that anyhow.
Seems like you guys feel like giving this thing a go yourselves, judging by the suggestions and examples given.
Maybe it would be good to have another "wave" of designs, like with the marble mg's before and the sawed-offs before that.
I remember those because I started them, offcourse.
Not that the issue couldn't be fixed with a smoother curve.jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:The jamming issue was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it.
Well, probably, yes - but it's not obvious (having never watched the anime or read the manga) where cases are supposed to eject - if indeed they do - so I considered the alternate option and asked if it didn't eject at all.No suggestion it was caseless rounds - caseless rounds don't eject cases by definition, and for a fictional weapon, that goes against the rule of cool.
However, as that's a case swap for an airsoft gun (based on a manga gun), you can't expect that it'll consider everything...
And yes - TV Tropes, a website made of win. I probably (read: definitely) spend too much time around there.
If I'm being honest, I had to stop myself from typing the word "darling" at the end...You know me too well
*facepalm*

Ah you decorated it.
It looks really firearm-ish now, very well done!
Though if I am honest, I have to admit that I did like the naked unpainted look of parts in some way, but thats just me.
One thing you could improve is making it less smooth: Add rails or grooves n other fancy looking details which make weapons look like weapons. Maybe even add "fake" features that are on normal firearms, such as the safety switch and magazine release button.
Though that may require you to give it an orange tip to avoid confusion.
It also applies to the rule of cool, unnecessary details that actually have no other function or even make the object less practical can be very awesome.

Still on the Ghost in the Shell theme, here's something I've wanted to do since I first saw the first movie - have you got a small aluminium case to modify? This would suit your latest creation just fine

Muhahaha...
I transported Overkill in a guitar case...
Currently Overkill has been stripped and blended into a larger cannon, wich is currently unfinished.
My fellow Spudicans,
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank those who have been an inspiration to me, the founding fathers of bbmg technology back in the spudtech days, and all those who have otherwise inspired me to build this bbmg: Special thanks to Takerlabs, Neospud, JSR and Django

I think it looks good.. the grip looks improved.
I still think you should put rails on the side and perhaps top. You wouldnt have to mount anything on it but having the rails on it can give it more of a badass look.

I salute thee, good sir, I remember a time when you and I were pretty much the only people on spudtech playing with 300 psi plus and alternative construction methods, I'm glad to see that the gospel has since spread and spudgun research and development is always being taken to new levels - the future's bright, the future's... orange? hmmm.Brian the brain wrote:I'd like to take this opportunity to thank those who have been an inspiration to me, the founding fathers of bbmg technology back in the spudtech days, and all those who have otherwise inspired me to build this bbmg: Special thanks to Takerlabs, Neospud, JSR and Django

And we were taken for fools.
I remember DR putting me down for wanting to use unregged CO2, saying I must have at least some brain to ask for ratings on steel fittings.
"100 psi is all you need"
Right....
Times sure change, don't they...
