What is the safest material to use as a combustion chamber
No they hold a very stable trajectory well beyond 50 yards. Any ammo becomes very difficult to aim past 50 yards though and darts are no exception. By the way don't use PVC on your barrel it's far too floppy and inaccurate. Intead try steel electrical conduit.

umm, reading your diagram I see that you dont know how cam locks work, but your gonna build an advanced comustion??? to answer your original question, famous scientist Charles Darwin would suggest you use a paper towel roll studded with nails... make sure you wikipedia the name before you build that one...
"<I>For dare to be peace, I have to keep at it everyday, da Man doesn't take days off so neither can I</I>" -<B>Bob Marley</B>, day before a performance, a day after being shot in the chest. "<I>If you are the big, big tree, we are the small axe, ready to cut you down!</I>" -Bob again :brave:
You need to do some serious research friend. As much as I want to help you if you don't even know how to seal a chamber you are in for a rude awakening when it comes to the mathmatical and engineering complexity of one of these things. Might I suggest looking at the spudwiki section first.
It's easily sealable with most high end epoxy. Just sleeve it with PVC of a larger bore on the outside. Use electrical tape or foam tape to make up the gap between the PVC and steel conduit and the use the epoxy to fill in the gap between. Steel electical conduit is just steel pipe that electircians use to run wire through. I'm honestly the only person I've seen that uses it. It a heckuvalot cheaper than copper tubing and just as effective when used appropriately in a barrel.
I'm more than willing to help anytime, but do yourself a favor and read spudwiki and take a look at the topics that are already here. There is a gold mine of info at this site take advantage of it. Who knows maybe you'll decide to build a pneumatic instead!

lolololololololololol.
You realizes that "lol" does not substitute for a period at the end of a sentence?
Seriously, calm down, you are in this way too deep. As Radiation said, you need to do some research, and get a little more knowledgeable before you go off trying to take over the world.
Take some time to look around at everything that has been posted here. Brows the completed cannons section. Learn what you are getting into, and then learn how to not get your self killed.
I love your enthusiasm, but you need to approach this in a more cautious manner.

Rob, we went through a lot of this with you a few days ago. I'll say it again, "You aren't studying my man". You're making a little headway, but ... if you hear a term you arent sure of, Google is your friend....your dear, dear friend. Please don't get back on here after someone has given you good advice and say "but I don't know what steel conduit is"...
You are being giving answers, clues, many clues to your puzzle. It is your job to take those clues and run with them.

It's fair enough to say that, and in an air/propane advanced it wont be much higher. But consider other fuels..eg. my mini that's been overhauled to run on pure hydrogen/oxygen. Generates well over 70 psi..jmeyer1022 wrote:Rob748 wrote:I believe a well built combustion only reaches 60-70 PSI tops
In a 1x combustion sch40 NSF-PW or DWV-PW is fine. There will be numbers on it that indicate a pressure rating at a certain temperature. As for a smaller bore barrel, I found an old curtain rail. When the plastic was stripped it proved to be stainless steel. It was then sleeved in PVC (be careful with some metal pipe like this, it can turn out to be "rolled", which will be indicated by a weld or seam line. If it has this line, it's often a good idea to sleeve it.

DO not build this cannon. building guns like this is only smart if you fully understand the English language "lol" Also noone can tell you what FPS you will be getting, but with out a crony you can't tell at all, and since you don;t know what that is you don't have one, so it really doesn't matter.
Please be safe and wait about 4 years on this one.
