oak gunstock with a simple brass coaxal attached
I made a "How To" on carving a stock and this is the finished piece.
the piston is a piece of brass pipe that fits snug in the chamber. I stamped out a piece of rubber that fits in the piston then filled the rest of the piston with epoxy. I have no trouble piloting this piston with the schrader, but the blowgun is nice for a trigger. The ammo of choice is 1/4 inch ball bearings.
The barrel is 36 inches of 1/4 inch inner diameter brass pipe. The chamber is 12 inches of 5/8 inch pipe. My operating pressure will be 400 psi, so I expect good things when the epoxy fully cures.
Damage pictures and videos will be here tomorrow when the epoxy has cured and my wife has settled down.

moar lol
It should be great at 400 psi, what do you have in mind for ammunition? I would go for either 1/4" steel ball bearings or 0.25" airgun pellets.
What about the scope mount? Looks like an off-the-shelf piece, is it one of those adapters used to attach a rail to a scope?

Great idea, 2 of these would be dirt cheap and fit nicely around any 1 inch chamber, i'm sure you can find even cheaper ones.jook13 wrote:That is exactaly what the scope mount is. It fits nice around my piece of brass.

I had plans for damage today. I aired it up, and low and behold there is a leak!
Time for moar dremel and epoxy action. Damage postponed till tomorrow, as well as a chrony test.

Where is the leak? a vacume cleaner can be very useful in some leak situations, i hooked one up to my coax to suck some JFC in to seal it.jook13 wrote:I had plans for damage today. I aired it up, and low and behold there is a leak!

It was where my pilot tee is epoxied into the brass, behind the piston. No biggie though, the new epoxy job is curing as I type. And what is JFC?

Just for copper, its this fancy stuff that chemically bonds copper and its good to 500psi.
i had trouble with leaks the first time i used it, but the second time round after i heated the fittings off was much better, although i did have to whip the vacume out probably my sloppy spreading!

Yeah I have seen that just for copper. Expensive as hell. Using a vacume to suck epoxy into the leak sounds like a slick idea though.

even a soda bottle with a piece of pipe and hairspray with fuel, is a real gun, if by real you dont mean "not fake" then yeah, all the other guns on this site are actually just pipe and nothing more, except fake guns...ALIHISGREAT wrote:Thats just too cool. Might I suggest good old, reliable, solder?
Yet another very nice one Jook. :thumbright: :thumbright:
I suspect you've just inspired a bunch of people to "get off their arses".

I'm not sure how I missed this beauty. This looks awesome /jaw drops. It would pass as a commercial rifle in my book. Any damage shots yet?
