Most powerful AirCannon Ever...
In response to a claim that someone made in a locked thread about a soon to be built cannon that would be the most powerful ever....
They've got there work cut out for them...
Air cannon used to test parachutes. 400mm caliber. 300lb projectile at 1000 ft/s.

Heck, even that beasty isn't anywhere near as large, or as powerful, as the largest compressed gas guns ever built.
Heck, a generic torpedo launching tube is more powerful, let alone the coastal type guns that were built. Or even the catapult on an aircraft carrier.

Thats a large cannon. Any other specifications? Operating pressure, volume, valve (butterfly I guess)?
I wish I knew, it and the performance #'s came from Auburn Universitys Website....

You have a URL on that cannon?
Jeepkahn, Thank you very much!
While I thinkthe Venom is pretty sweet, I don't think it will throw 7lb projctiles 3 miles, or 300lb projectiles at 1000fps.... And if it could, I would want to be holding it to fire it...Moonbogg wrote:None of those toys have anything on the Venom.
I think he may have been being sarcastic guys.
Anyway, I doubt either of those are as entertaining or fun to use as the Venom. Using them is just going to be too "push a button".
I have nothing wrong with doing things with some science and calculation behind them, but in my opinion, a handheld cannon will always trump a remotely triggered one for entertainment.

Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
Nod's from me on that one.... Nothing quite like feeling the kick of a 32oz monster can filled with sand fired from a large bore cannon charged to 160+psi...Ragnarok wrote:I think he may have been being sarcastic guys.

Not necessarily. A joystick controlled turret is just as cool.a handheld cannon will always trump a remotely triggered one for entertainment.
