How does a muscle break help with anything?? :D

Why stick to only 80 psi??

You have the concrete...build a box around the thing and fill that up with concrete...

Now you have a 300 psi cannon.. :D

I'm just kidding..
Excellent cannon..

Oh and if I made a typo...I'm Dutch..I don't understand what " spellcheck" means...
That's my excuse...see?

I'll admit to a few of those. I get fed up with something then blow up at some poor unfortunate who's subjected to more wrath than they deserve.
It isn't proper to start a sentence with "and."
It may not be "proper grammar" to do such a thing, but it is not however something that I'll slate someone for.
It's an artefact of someone's train of thought - you finish a sentence. And then you think of something you want to add to the end of it afterwards.
Hotwired wrote:Come on, if you're not going to PM a lecture don't post it.
I felt it was better to leave it in the open. If I do that, it's more likely to defuse the situation than if I PM it.

It's also something I'd prefer others to see. I figure my "Grammar Nazism" (although what Fascism has to do with proper writing, I don't know) has inspired similar things in other people, and it's important to stress "Good enough" over "perfect".

D_Hall wrote:Missed this thread until now but a couple thoughts....

1) That filing cabinet on the first page is an old government surplus cabinet from somewhere in the 40s to 60s. At the time, documents classified as "CONFIDENTIAL" were cleared for storage in such filing cabinets. In other words, they were considered "light" safes. Note that there are still a mess of those cabinets out there as they're so well made that they'll probably still be in use after I retire, but these days they're used as nothing more than simple filing cabinets and are no longer considered secure even more mere "CONFIDENTIAL" documents.

2) As the projectile clears the muzzle all that pressurized air suddenly has an escape path and it takes it. Result? Sudden tailwind on the projectile which can destablize it. It may very well regain stability, but probably not gonna happen in the 20 yards you advertise as your range to target. Taking a longer range shot may yield better results. Alternatively, a muzzle break may help by giving much of the air a place to escape that doesn't take it across the tailfin surfaces.

edit: Oh, and while your cannon is a beauty, I had to vote "I've made bigger out of spare parts" because... Well, Vera is made primarily out of spare parts.
Wow... this thread racked up alot of useless post's pretty quick lol, except for your's, Mr. Hall (which is why I guess I quoted it?).

Thanks for the tip! I really didn't put 2+2 together there and think of the effectiveness of a muzzle break on the fletchings of the ammo I've been shooting, makes perfect sense!

Also thanks for the head's up on the filing cabinet, it definitely makes sense and where it came from also points towards your suggestion. That thing was a beast! Very thick sheet metal, the thickest I've ever seen used on a filing cabinet, makes sense it was a confidential document safe lol. Also the lock and latching system was very overbuilt for any filing cabinet I've ever seen.

I'm uploading the damage shots video now guys! First video I've done on Premiere, gotta say I love the program now, it's very easy to whip up fast projects in. The video will be nothing more than a demonstration view... no steps where taken towards creating a cinematic masterpiece lol. Youtube's pretty slow tonight, so it prolly won't be posted till tomarrow (I'm uploading in higher quality).

Oh and Vera's a bit bigger... I'll give that to you lol.

::EDIT:: Damage Video finally posted!! it's still being processed on youtube so the quality sucks right now but should get better. The video is on the first page, second post of this thread.

Okay, why is "Whale Penis" amongst your Youtube tags?
And who exactly was it that responded to a considerable number of the shots with "S***"?

Don't worry about the whale penis thing, I often go in random directions with my YT tabs and begin writing about my day or what I'm thinking of.

Though whale penis is not a tag in any of my videos

Very nice though!

I like how some of you guys commented on the tags lol. What's a matter, did I ruin your search for what you were actually looking for??? why would you be looking for whale penis's anyways lol... much less reading the tags?

If your commenting on the tags, I guess I accomplished what I was looking for...

The person responding with "sh!t" after every shot had never seen a large air powered spud gun, rather was used to the bbq igniter, white rain powered combustion that fires "at least a half mile" lol.

I almost always read the comments on "Youtoob" videos (unlike some muppets) - so it was unlikely I wasn't going to notice your attempts to subtly fit your secret fetishes in there.

Oh boy... you caught me now

I like how you classify people who don't waste their time reading tag's as muppet's... very classy son.

So back on topic, does anyone have suggestions for an effective muzzle brake for a 3" bore air powered cannon. I've got some idea's of my own but would like to hear anyone else's. Thanks

No, that's my commentary on people who don't read the video notes. Too many questions which were answered there get asked in comments...

But reading the tags is far from essential - and I still hate people with tags like: "Simpsons South Park Family Guy funny XXX fail sex hot chicks girl tits". Particularly when it's a video about something insanely mundane.

I don't think blame can be placed for that, it's a natural reaction to big bores :D

The simplest would be to fit a tee on the muzzle and drill a hole through it, ending up with something like the one on the AW50 anti-material rifle.

In terms of effectiveness though you'd be better off with a multi-baffled design like this:
