Made this in a few hours today after I got the idea last night. Basically it's just a Mini Maglite gutted of its components and refitted with a coaxial piston valve :P

Ignore this part unless you have a question, because I'll probably answer here: Piston is made from a piece of LPG hose, filled with JB-Weld (sealing face has a small hole in the middle of it) and with a glued on rubber washer that is my sealing face. Barrel support is a piece of plastic glued to the 6mm bore x 100mm long barrel. Fill valve and pilot valve is a schrader valve epoxied in to the back fitting. The schrader valve cap was added to make it look more like the original Maglite which had a black rubber button to turn the light on and off.

I was tempted to use a Quick Connect because that would probabbly double performance, but I figured I always have my other coaxial that I can use for power. This one is more for fun. Operating pressure will probably be somewhere between 200-400PSI. I'm just waiting for the epoxy to dry, so no 'damage' shots yet. Oh, and technically it's not a Maglite but another brand. I think that's about all there is to it, now for the pictures!

Edit: BTW, it's 18cm long with the front cover on.

New Piston. Silver thing at the back is a schrader attachment which I use to trigger the schrader valve and fire the gun

Corkin'!

I've been wanting to do this for ages but the mini-maglite I have is an actual maglite, not some cheapo imitation that I'd only be too happy to hack up :P :D

My endeavour in to finding the brand of the torch (flashlight), led me to the Kathmandu wbesite (I bought it from the store) and RRP is $50NZD, or about $35USD. Oh well, I didn't pay for it. My mum did, when I went on a school trip to Europe 2 years ago.

Plus, I much rather it being a BB gun :P

If I can find a larger maglite at a relatively low price I'm tempted to convert one, if you take for example a 3 cell version and fit a mini in the space of two cells, you still retain its function as a torch on one cell.

It would be cool to have a "magnum pengun" of sorts, either say a 0.50"-0.73" single shot or a burst fire high pressure BBMG.

As long as someone doesn't ask to borrow your torch :D

Room for a decent chamber volume and even a reasonable barrel length. :)

You could get quite decent performance, over 700fps i'm talking about, if you had a threaded on barrel. I'm sure you've seen the PVC coaxials which have the advantage of being able to unthread and swap the barrel over. Well if you had a barrel that would protrude from the bottom of the Maglite, you could fix that by having it being able to thread in to the chamber.

A 20cm barrel would probably be enough, with maybe half that or more inside the torch itself

Maglites are made from anodized 6061 aluminum, they probably could take 700PSI or more. Of course, this cheap replica is only made from MILITARY GRADE ALUMINIUM!!1!11one! :D
The exterior is made with military-grade Forged Aluminum to provide the maximum protection for its internal components.
Haha anyway, if it's any consolation, I did get the idea to make a coaxial out of this from when you've brought it up previously on the forum. :P

Hmmm nice idea.
I have an el-cheapo LED flashlight right here... heck I could even try to build it in such a way that it can still shine light AND have a spudgun inside.
Till the day I'm dieing, I'll keep them spuddies flying, 'cause I can!
