Can anyone tell me the legality of combustion potato cannons in Canada, Ive already made several but I have no clue whether or not they are legal and it would be nice to know. Now I have done searches but nothing has come up, I know of one incident near me where a person's gun was taken away but he had it returned due to the cops being unable to charge him. I just want to know how Canada views combustion cannons.

Well I'm from Ontario and I phoned the other day and they said as long as its under the muzzle velocity of 500fps it is perfectly fine. Also it doesn't matter what propellant is used (air, combustion)

There is no Federal or Provincial laws legislating Potato Guns. It is mainly a municipal matter. I think it's pretty much the same in all cities : if you don't shoot people or things for destructions, you are fine.

Even if you shoot someone by accident, if you did not have any bad intentions, they won't charge you (that's what they told me on the phone)
