Ok i have come up with an awesome idea but have a few questions.
I want to build a inline vortex sub machine gun and want to power it with a 12 gram co2 cartridge in the handle.
my questions are:
What do i hook the co2 cartridge up to?
What trigger should i use?
What hose thingy should i get to hook up to the vortex block?
How much fps and rate of fire is expected from a 12 gram?
And would this work: http://www.rei.com/product/696553
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!
and by the way this is my first post.

BBMGs are terribly inefficient (meaning - they use a lot of air)... so don't expect 10 second continuous bursts with 12g cartridges
IIRC someone (probably BTB) has built a BBMG powered by 12g cart. and it could only fire for about 5 seconds or so...
I leave it up to you to decide if you want a gun that will empty the whole cartridge in a couple of seconds

I agree, you have a couple of other options though, one you can hook it up to regulated co2 or hpa but the set up for that will cost over a 100 dollar, or you can hook it up to an air compresser

and my own..
What is that blue thing on the end of the inflator?
What did you use to connect the inflator to the hop up with?
And you used magnets to keep your magazine up?
Also could you post a video of it firing?
THANKS GUYS FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND HARD WORK ON YOUR PROJECTS!!!
AND REMEMBER THIS IS MY FIRST BBMG PROJECT SO...YEAH

the first pic in davidvaini bbmg is just a photoshop pic of what he would make it look like

If it were me. o would not use a vortex or a cloud. i would use Davidvaini's direct feed bbmg style gun. it seems to be more efficient to me. The bb's are right there, in the barrel. while a vortex or cloud has a very short "warm-up" time for the bbs to bounce or spin around untill they get into the barrel.

sorry, I don't have a video of one of these, I built a prototype.. test fired it and it was great, Its just I have been out of co2's ever since.. I do plan on making another one.
Its really simple actually.. its an airsoft barrel, airsoft hopup unit, tire valve and co2 inflator.. in that order..
oh and of course the airsoft magazine...
The tire valve is from a bike tire.. I just cut off some of the excess rubber until it was a tight fit into the hopup...
The hopup design is quite simple.. it has an air inlet, a bb inlet, and a barrel outlet.
The air just goes through the air inlet.. and the BBs are pushed up by a spiring in the magazine.. the BBs are pushed into the air stream coming from the air inlet.. the air stream then pushes those BBs out the barrel.
Now my design utilizes an airsoft hopup that puts backspin on the BB causing it to fly further.
With this coming up again, I think I am finally going to build one of these the right way.. and expierenment by putting an expansion chamber between the co2 inflator and the hopup.

I'm not even sure if it will work.. but I'm just theorizing that it will help performance...COOL GUY wrote:Not to sound stupid but what is a expansion chamber and what does it do? Is it easy to build?
:wav:
An expansion chamber is just a chamber that is slightly larger.. it allows the compressed air, gas, etc.. expand to create more volume and less pressure..
More volume = longer firing times
less pressure = less velocity
but velocity seems good enough right now considering I have an excess in pressure (unregged co2)
