You'll only get diamonds from oxygen deficient carbon containing explosives (TNT ect.) and then you'd have no chance of seeing them..

He didn't make diamonds (as in the allotrope of carbon). Look at the photo again.

Haha, I think we have a severe misunderstanding here.

I'm not talking about diamonds, I'm talking about shock diamonds.
They are formed when the supersonic exhaust of a rocket or jet engine meets atmospheric air, and they look like this:


And here's an enhanced version of the freeze-frame which kinda looked like they formed in my little video (I've messed with contrast, brightness, hue and saturation to make them more apparent, and resized it)



They look almost as cool as actual diamonds, but tend to be somewhat less desirable in jewellery

It depends - it could be argued that for certain elements of the gender that consider diamonds to be their best friend, "shock" diamonds would be more appropriately applied to the neck

... or a pearl necklace, but that's another matter entirely

Messed around with a bit more hydrogen today, and managed to ruin a perfectly good bucket with a small balloon the size of my fist

What ignition did you use for the bucket one? It looks like cap bank+steel wool, but I can't be sure.

The balloon that didn't burst had butane to make the fire more impressive. Oh well.

And the card house at 1000fps... terribly made house which still took me ten minutes, during which I suspect some of one gas or another leaked from the balloon and made it burn a bit slower.

Sat the camera too close and some muddy, gritty water splashed off the ground and into my lens. A delicate operation involving a toothpick and a cotton bud managed to remove the dirt without any visible damage though. I really need to get some kind of glass shield for this thing.

Hahaha... I missed a good opportunity last week... about 500 shooters flocked to my town because we have a big shooting ground for trap and skeet shooting, and there was a big comp on. Could have gone and filmed some clay targets being obliterated, but oh well. Maybe next time.

Such a funny sight being down there when there's a comp on... every man and his dog is walking around with a double barrel shotgun over their shoulder.

EDIT: Lol, when I looked at that clip the funny magazine placement made me think 'wtf, is she holding it upside down?' until I saw the collapsed bipod. Had to wiki the gun to investigate
