This was my first experience with soldering, so to be safe a little extra JB weld was added around the only soldered joint. That join is NOT held only together with JB weld
THIS GUN HAS BEEN UPDATED NEW GRIP AND PILOT ADDED
1/2" BV for pilot valve
3/8" QD for filling and exhaust
Now for some pictures:
The whole gun :edit: BEFORE
The Whole gun AFTER:
Pilot/Fill Area :edit: BEFORE
Pilot/Fill Area AFTER:
Schrader Adaptor for Filling
Exploded View with Piston
Hope Y'all like it, i will get damage pictures once i get a shock pump, and find better ammo

Yeah it looks really nice... I thought type M copper was
for low pressure... I just heard that somewhere though... I very well might be wrong.
You should make some kind of pistol grip for it...

I might buy an old rubber band gun and use its grip or stock because i don't have any tools to make one myself.
Type M is the weaker variety, but it can still handle at least 250 psi

just had an idea.
http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/hammers-t20248.html
that was something i found and will try and use in various applications.
do you think that the arm on the ball valve can be attached to the moving rod on the pump?

I'm A little confused on what you plan to use it for, but this is a BV i found by the compressors, one side is male, the other is female. It turns 180˚ both ways, there are two lips you could grind off to make it turn 360˚, but good luck with that.

Given the relatively small pilot volume, you could probably pilot the valve with a ported blowgun, which would give the firing mechanism a more trigger like feel.
Agreed.
FYI for DWV... 3/4" Type M copper has a RATED working pressure of ~400psi.

I'm currently working on reducing th pilot volume, any tips?
I'm trying to make it pilot out of a blowgun which i already have hooked up, but its not piloting near enough.

Keep piston travel to no more than D/2.
Make sure the piston fits "good". It should not fall out if held upside down.
Take the blowgun apart and bore out the passages aroung the valve stem. I think there might be a tutorial for modding blowguns here somewhere as well.

That is all.
i think i will have to draw this as it is hard to explain through words.Lockednloaded wrote:I'm A little confused on what you plan to use it for, but this is a BV i found by the compressors, one side is male, the other is female. Edit.
and here it is
when pulling the trigger, an arm pushes the release for the pump. this causes a rod to shoot out (i currently have three spring on it so it moves quick) the rod hits the BV, thus opening it quickly resulting in higher power?

BUMP for new pictures and ergonomic layout!
As you can see i will no longer be switching to a blowgun, because my new set up pilots extremely fast, and is very comfortable.
@chinnerz:
The 1/4" BV i was using before would be perfect for your application, its super easy to open.

wow thats cool! you should polish it up more, and add some wood grips to really make it look medieval. What ammo are you using for it, can't wait to see some damage i think you should also switch your 90 degree elbow to a 45 for a better look.
Can you hold that thing with one hand and pull the BV? it looks a little heavy

This is very slick. If you decide to make a grip for it, leave a channel so the pilot would vent at the bottom of the handle. See Pic
