hey this is my first post so cut me some slack. ok so i have been surfing the internet looking for a good idea i choice a simple one where you step on the co2 and it sprays flower/bb's. i build it useing pvc and just finished my first test i liked it but it did not have as much power as i would like. anyone have a better idea. the glue ( jb weld did not hold after the first test any ideas).
thanks max

You have to upload them to a photo site like photobucket and then copy the code into here to get the pictures.

That is all.
use imageshack it has a resize function as well. but you can simply copy and paste the forum code. less stress on the spudfiles server XDclemsonguy1125 wrote:Heres what I use to make my pictures smaller,

Then upload them normally
my only criticism is on you power source....
but let me start off with a story. back in year 7 of my schooling life, i built (for woodwork) a mini dragster, this car was powered by co2. these cars went 25 meters in about 1.4 - 1.5 seconds. schools everywhere used to sell 12 gram co2 cartridges so students to play with their creations at home/after school. this practice soon stopped however after a cartridge went off back to front and went straight into someones eye... killing them almost instantly.
this is why i would recommend somehow facing the 12 gram co2 cartridge downwards.... or at least clamping it into place somehow.

Ok, I am going to agree with Chinnerz on this. I know exactly where you got the idea from (it was here for those interested: here is the manufacturer site: http://www.s-thunder.com/en/ ) Chinnerz has a very good point. There is a reason that in the production version that there is a screw on pressure plate, with a fixed cap and a safety pin on the triggering mechanism.
Not wanting to beat a dead horse, I will make a few comments on the design itself.
I too became interested in Spudfiles for the use of airsoft, and when I saw this production landmine I contemplated making one myself. The downsides to this design are that a. the use of 12g CO2 is not only expensive, but IMO un-necessary waste of power. and b. the practicality of field use is very limited for a land mine that is triggered in this way and doesnt have options for other triggering mechanisms i.e. trip wires etc. For this reason, if you really want this kind of munition for airsofting I recommend going for more of a pneumatic claymore design.
As far as your gluing problems go, from the looks of your design you are using all PVC (no problem with that) but there are PVC cements that are made for this exact purpose. I noticed an ACE bag on your bench, I'm assuming that is where you got the parts, right around that same area should be cans that look like this: http://www.skylighter.com/images/newsle ... cement.jpg make sure that you get the PVC-PVC cement, there are also ABS-ABS and PVC-ABS cements. Hope this helps.

You get an 'E' for effort on this one. First, I'll start with the positives. I like the general layout of the design. And, despite with the others have said, you are on the right track with using the 12g - you just need to learn how to use them.
Now for the other: You got to get a cap on this thing. The way it's set up, that 12g can turn into a nut buster in no time. A cap will also make the pressure plate much wider and easier to hit, and make it where you don't have to stomp it to set it off.
FreePaintballPlans.com is all about grenades and mines for paintball and airsoft. You should check it out. Lot's of great guys who really know their stuff.
Here is a couple of videos from one of the members there, just to give you an example of what those guys can do:

lol I stand corrected, those videos are quite impressive, perhaps what I should have said was that "i have not found a way to make them efficient" then again this is not something that I tend to dwell on regularly.Hubb wrote:And, despite with the others have said, you are on the right track with using the 12g - you just need to learn how to use them.
I lean toward the second one for logistical purposes, but both of those are pretty cool and show it can be done well in both formats... it looks like Hubb may have just divided my attention by another forum lol...
Don't feel that this was directed towards you. A lot of people don't know how to properly use a 12g in a mine. It takes a lot of practice and knowledge to be able to use one properly, but once it's figured out, then building a mine becomes nothing more than putting pieces together. In other words, the advantages of a 12g powered mine far outweigh the disadvantages, when it is put in the right hands.bobgengeskahn wrote:lol I stand corrected, those videos are quite impressive, perhaps what I should have said was that "i have not found a way to make them efficient" then again this is not something that I tend to dwell on regularly.Hubb wrote:And, despite with the others have said, you are on the right track with using the 12g - you just need to learn how to use them.

OK... I've had it, Ive spent the last 2 days lurking around that other forum that you linked to Hubb and I have a few questions lol.
1. Where did those two videos come from? I did not see any mine designs on there that resembled those (a little sad about that).
2. Is there something that I am missing? because looking at the mine section on there all I saw was one page of mostly very very old posts, and the one or two promising threads that I saw were way dead or the pictures were no longer being hosted. ( I did however find this one that was very very helpful in understanding some of the concepts: http://www.freepaintballplans.com/forum ... .php?t=751 )
3. What would be your opinion on using a piston design? with a fill valve and a trip wire activated vent on the back of it? It would get around the spring issue very easily that a few threads on there mentioned. Or is there some magical build voodoo technique that I missed? Because most of the guys on there were talking about having to get very high tension springs to puncture the 12g or having to be very precise in setting up a firing pin for it.
If you couldnt already tell, this idea of being able to make a quick and "easy" mine has kind of taken over my mind for the time being since my sniper rifle project is on hold for a bit while i save up and wait for some parts....
EDIT:
By "vent" i mean something like this:
and also, in some of those designs couldnt the force of the spring be reduced by increasing the mass of the plunger that strikes the canister into the pin? i.e threading a steel head to the piston.
