Forgive me if this question has been previously asked in a similar manner. I have this small flashlight http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp ... -P_N3092_A and was curious if anyone had a guesstimation on what pressure it could take if gutted, plugged and used for an air chamber in a airsoft gun. The walls on this on are pretty thin and it has no indication on the temper or alloy used. In fact I'm only 99% sure its aluminum that information is not listed on the website. If this has been answered before forgive me search didn't come up with anything I could find pertaining to this. Thank you for all replies.

I'm not sure about that light but mrc used a maglight to 200 psi
That is all.

It will almost certainly be aluminum. Hold a rare-earth magnet to it if you're unsure.
If you aren't confident with it, measure it with a pair of calipers and post here.

i would feel safe with this up to about 150psi
But, i tend to stay a little on the side of caution.
A better question would be, what would it take to blow the end cap off??
The rubber "button" might pop off at a low psi and leave you with a leak.

It wasn't a maglite but a cheap copy.clemsonguy1125 wrote:I'm not sure about that light but MrC used a maglight to 200 psi
Don't know about this torch but I've used the alloy roller from a Dell printer cartridge to 850 psi without failure. Why do you want to use this in particular, threaded endcaps?

I have had some of those 3 AAA flashlights that had poor threads. I had one strip out just by carrying it in my back pocket. Sitting on it a few times warped the cap enough the threads stripped out. They are very shallow thin threads.
On a side note, my local hardware store started to carry the high intensity Blacklight version of them. The Brand is Blacklight Master. They emit very little near UV, and emit lots of UV. Peak wavelength is 390 nm. They really light up the mylar security strip in US notes. I have not found one this good anywhere near the price they were asking for them.
UV ink and security company places sell them for about $80. My local hardware store had them for $12. Runs on 3 AAA batteries and has 9 high intensity UV LED's in it. Turns my photogrey glasses dark in seconds.
