Paradoxically dumb? I think so.

Mark, get off the net, go read some books. Come back later.
You know what it means when you nitpick unrelated topics with someone SuperSonic? It means you have run out of ammunition and you will do anything to get back at someone even if they are right, just because they made you look like a complete moron.

Besides, you point is based off of a fallacy. You don't need to be IN love with someone to love them. Tell me, when you lost your mother when she committed suicide because she was sick of you, did you fall IN LOVE with her? Then again, I guess I wouldn't doubt that's all truth.

SuperSonic, get off the net, go hang yourself. Come back never.

geez, thats pretty harsh.

ANYWAYS i'm not getting involved but i do have a question

since the helium atoms are smaller than the air atoms, won't it leak more??

so my question is: is there anything special that you would have to do to put helium in your pneumatic, like would the helium seep through the teflon taped shrader valve and stuff???

ps. I can never take you seriously with that avatar. I know that was a pretty bad diss (a little harsh tho) but all I can do is laugh.

You have a good question Steve.

Helium is actually used in the industry checking for leaks. An inflated balloon actually has helium going right through the walls, (albeit slowly).

But, if you made your pneumatic properly, I doubt it could get through a properly teflonned seal. If it does, it will be a VERY slow leak, which won't even be noticeable, (even with soap water).

hey sgort, i would assume judging by supersonics post that he is infact joking around. He admits it himself:

"The above poster's points may or may not be valid, but naturally I did some background checks before reading anything:"

I seriously wouldnt take it personally if he said something like that to me. Its just a laugh.

Also, someone answer the question on why air cant go faster than sound. Its bugging me.

Oh and steve, there are no 'air atoms', air is just a mix of different atoms, chiefly nitrogen, then oxygen, argon, etc. You may have known that and you just said air atoms as a generalisation, but i figured id point it out anyway.

Some people are scared of direct relations with others, that's why they go in the forums, they can say whatever they want, there wont be any "direct" confrontation. To these guys, i wanna say that it isn't a way to gain trust in yourselves. Read some books, observe the others and stop bothering people just for showing that you're here.

Now for the topic, no one has clearly answered the question. you could break the sound barrier with a pneumatic filled with helium, or air.
The reason for Helium is that it is a very light gas, and at the same pressure, there will be a lot more atoms in the chamber causing more hits. the pressure isn't higher because the atoms are smaller.
With air, speed of sound is higher when the pressure is higher, as well as speed of sound is lower when you dicrease the pressure. making this, the projectile will accelerate to a certain speed, pushed by an air quantity that tends to expand faster than the speed of sound. the reason why you have to put a lot of air pressure to raise the speed of sound with a projectile, is that the projectile has a mass. considering that the pressure drops every single mm the projectile get's down the barrel, the expansion speed of the pressurized-air dicreases. that makes the force behind the projectile to dicrease too.
So in order to reach the speed of sound, you need a very high C:B ratio, so that there is a lot more air than needed, so that the pressure dicreases very small when firing.

hope i helped a bit for your question ;)
