A valve rated for 150 psi won't explode at 151 psi, while exceeding pressure ratings is not recommended there is a certain safety factor which some people choose to slim down, people have used typical QEVs to 500 psi and beyond without failure to my knowledge.
Of course though failure is not the only risk, even if it doesn't blow up you will be increasing wear and tear on the piston/diaphragm.

Wow, way to dig up an old post
But yeah, the rating is around 150 psi but it can take a lot more. 600 psi firings and there is no visible damage to the piston face or anything
I don't post much here anymore, moved onto bigger things, mainly building PCP airguns with operating pressures of 200-250 bar

Certainly post some of your work, I don't think I've seen mention of homemade PCPs here, let alone seen a built one.
Even a few pictures would satiate some.
The QEV gun is very nice also.

Gipetto's work
here is quite impressive, there are several other PCPs on the site but most of them are modded commercial items.

Post it up Dave...
If Dave is in the UK and "nifty" means 12.01 ft/lbs +, I would understand his reasons for not posting.
Zeus, it seems your complaints
have been heeded
