I hope you used a rubbing compound and removed the layer of wax and any oxidized paint first. I've seen a few home jobs a few months later. A clean dry surface devoid of any wax or oil is essential.

Fisheyes are no fun.

What was the prep procedure? What kind of paint did you use? Beware of using newsprint for masking paper-the holes in the edges can lead to dots along the edges you mask off.

Prep work was to sand/buff of the clear coat, then clean with oil remover and degreaser. Followed by a through rub down with 99% rubbing alcohol.

The paint is a one step primer/paint/clearcoat from dupli color.

I followed the manufactures instructions to a "T"

The updated photos will be uploaded when I can get back to my computer.

Not to bad looking for a truck with 250,000 miles on it.

There is a few spots where im still going to touch up the red paint, but i need to let the white cure first (7-10 days for full cure)

as for the dent in the tail gate, who ever owned this truck before me, decided it would be a good idea to POP-RIVET the inside plate of the tail gate to the outside (dented) plate..... so i will need to grind those out...the rivets i mean.

You can run a drill bit though thr rivets to avoid damaging the surounding material.

rattle can it is.

Although, its not like i used some cheap spray paint from the hardware store.

Dupli color is made to match the colors on vehicles, i used GM "victory red" (stock color of this truck) to fix alot of scratches and dings, and Subaru "Super white" for the stripes.

this paint is made to spray cars and trucks, and if you follow the instructions to a T, it adheres very very well.

It also drys to the touch in 1 hour, and fully cures in 7-10 days.

Cool, hope it works out.

One word of advice, get some good tape. The cheap masking tape I used actually allowed the paint to bleed through itself on the edges.

I had to touch up the red just a little.

Good luck!
