question if i may, i need to buy tool for work and can only find metric and sae sets of sockets/spanners are sae the same as imperial?

SAE and Imperial are the same. SAE actually stands for Society of Automotive Engineers. They use the Imperial standards for tools. So yes, SAE tools are Imperial sizes.

Tech, thats not a bad idea. I would still build a piston valve, but I might find a way to put a 2" nipple in there..

The tanks weighs 45lbs, and would make one hell of a 2"porting cannon.

I do have photos online of ways to do that with thicker tanks. Here is a propane tank being cut for a 2.5 inch pipe.

Actually that tank is a coaxial QDV build.. Oh, nevermind, the heavy tank.

Completed 2 inch QDV and the in slow progress 2.5 inch.

Having a massive barrel/chamber in a roon temperature pneumatic is fine if you're using heavy projectiles, but room temperature air won't exceed the speed of sound by a great degree (It shouldn't exceed the speed of sound whatsoever, but it does sometimes)

Anyway, since we're on this topic, I have one of these and a twelve foot 3in barrel.

I don't think I could bring myself to wreck it, the appeal of a large shop compressor tank is too great.

And does anyone know the standard threading for such a bottle? It looks like 3/4 NPT/BSP/something, it's not LH, but that's all I can tell. And before someone tells me to measure it, my vernier calipers don't fit in the valve protecting ring.

How did you secure the pipe nipple to the tank? Weld?
DO you think solder would hold a 2" nipple in place?

For that pressure and no copper type socket for a solder connection, weld or hard braze.
I brazed the 2 inch and welded the 2.5 inch.

On the first videos, the small flow induce a bgf mess of air, it should have a 10 meters barrel to exploit all HP air.

But with 2inch QDV ... a monster ! :D

Good thing I have 2.5 tears or brazing experience.... Only I'm used to brazing with oxy-acetaline, will I be able to do it with a simple propane torch?? I have no idea how how a propane torch burns.... To google!
