Seach Potato cannon sniper on Youtube and tell me what you guys think. That what the first Cannon I built. Sry about not putting up a link, im not able to get a link from work, which is where I am. Im posting but still being very productive and being a good supervisor.
Im planning to build a new Golf ball Sniper cannon. And my goal is for the golf ball to go at lest 1500 feet. Does any one have any ideas on how to achive this distance?

1500 feet is easily do-able with a 1.5" porting piston valve pneumatic at 120PSI or with an 'advanced combustion', i.e., a combustion that has a fuel meter and uses propane or MAPP gas.Im planning to build a new Golf ball Sniper cannon. A 4" diameter, 12" long PVC or ABS combustion chamber with a 5' long 1.5" SDR21 (if you live in the USA) golf ball barrel that has a fuel meter for either propane or MAPP gas and a 12VDC fan for fuel mixing and a basic igniter (piezo, stungun, ignition coil, electronic BBQ sparker, etc.) should be enough to shoot 450m with a golfball. For added distance, you could use a larger barrel and use a sabot for the golf ball and/or you could use a burst disk on the barrel to increase the pressure generated from combustion.
Edit: Don't expect to go over 2000' by the way, I'm not even sure if that has been done before as golf balls don't have the external ballistic qualities required for such distances with spudgun velocities.
Edit 2: Beat you to it jrrdw

I got 1080 feet with a golf ball with an air cannon at 50 PSI. I still need to range test at higher pressure. In the past high pressure shots resulted in projectile not found.

I usually only get about 100 feet with mine before they hit something and disappear...

lol, thats cool. Ill probably go to Home Depot next friday. When im done with it ill take pictures and let you guys see.mobile chernobyl wrote:I usually only get about 100 feet with mine before they hit something and disappear...
I plan to use:
Combustion Chamber: Aprox 12 inches of 3 inch PVC.
Barrel: Approx 5 feet of 1 1/2 Inch PVC.
Nothing fancy I just want some thing that going to make a big bang and shoot the golf ball VERY FAR.

Typical 1.5" PVC wont fit a golf ball, you need something called SDR21, which is a thin walled pipe but suitable for a barrel.
Make sure to bring a golf ball with you to test fit, they might have some SDR21 at Home Depot but it's probably unlikely.

You will likely not find the required fittings at Home Depot to build a safe advanced combustion launcher. You will need to order most of the fittings from an online retailer as the ones they have are shallow-socket DWV fittings. They sell pressure rated 3" and 4" pipe but thats about it. I would strongly advise against building your new project with anything but the highest quality pressure rated pipe and fittings. Also the arrival of cold weather might also be a concern depending where you live....... Just My $.02

I will take your words into consideration, And The cold is not so much of a problem here in texas. My budget on the other hand is a problem. But I guess it better to be safe than to have a cannon blow up in my face.
