Thanks guys.
All I can think of to improve is a brass endcap on the grip but it doesn't really need it.
I planned one but I'm unsure.

I want it to be a sawed-off, not a large pistol.
Sawed-off implies I cut off a buttstock and some barrel length....

Both launchers have been nominated in the "favourite gun on the site election"

finally got to work on the lever...
Just bent some steel and welded it up.
Thanks to the box structure in front of the triggerguard it's now rocksolid.

The earlier one felt like it flexed...Anyways...I wanted to replace it...so I did.

Now I'm thinking about smoothening everything out with bondo and painting all steel parts black.
Or some metal colour perhaps...

I know it will look so much better if I do, but....It might chip every now and then..
But I could get the gun looking supersmooth...

I used woodfiller to strengthen the foregrip and to make it fit perfectly to the steel tube.

Too bad it's supposed true colour isn't what I expected.

Might change out the wood entirely...

Edit: I took off the slugloader thingy...why overcomplicate things?
I have perfect lead roundballs for it...and I can remove the newly made brass top cover and manually load slugs if I want to...

Definately thinking about bondo-ing her up...
Or would you guys concider that cheating?

Many custom cars are finished smooth with bondo..edventhough they are steel.

I kind think it´s a little guetto  sorry it´s just all the welds and bad paint, wasn´t the type of factory quality I was expecting.

It's ghetto but that's what makes it look awesome, it gives it the worn and torn look... Pretty cool, but will looks much better after you smoothen things out or whatever. I like the new lever much better.

Pfffttt i think it looks great!
I admire your determination and effort you have put into this.

Maybe a little varnish/beeswax polish on the wooden stocks will look good.

Wire brush the metal parts and possibly polish the brass.

I think wire brish swirl marks will look good.

Personally, i hate working with bondo....
But it's up to you i guess :P

Bad paint?

I made a new lever...
That's what I wanted to show.
You guys seem to think it should look its best during every second of the build..

There is no pleasing you...
The wood had been taken off and filled and such so yeah..the paint scrathed and the lacker has been sanded off off the wood...

There is a difference between factory look and factory quality.
The thing is rock solid.

But I agree I was hoping for something that looked just a bit better.
Hence the bondo idea. That would fix it.
Filling up everything with weld and then grinding it completely smnooth will take up most of my free time over the next couple of months..

After 3-4 hours of building, adjusting, welding and grinding what do I get??

"ghetto"

:D

Well...maybe I'm keen on getting this thing done fast as I want to move on to this idea:

I agree.
Now you´re just being real.
But apart from filling and then smoothening welds I can't do any better with the tools I have.

But "ghetto" is actually the worst insult I have ever gotten on this site.
It kept me up last night.Really.

Maybe you guys don´t get what you are actually saying to me.
Maybe we have a different understanding of the term.

To me ghetto is a crumbled up popbottle ducktaped to a primer stained bent barrel and a longnose lighter hotglued in.
The worst look possible.
It´s fine and even cool if that´s what you´re going for.

I don´t think any of my creations were ghetto....but somehow the one I put most work and care in is..

Ghetto is not dull looking custom made brass parts.

If you really consider my gun to be of the lowest possible standard I would very much like you to surprise me with even a mediocre build.

I think rough is the word you were looking for.

Perhaps he meant ghetto in the sense that the gun looks realistic from afar but upon closer inspection you can see how each piece has been meticulously worked and designed to do what it's supposed to do with a rough appearance (which is only natural when you build something like this from scratch with metal and basic tools), but the first view from a distance had given the impression of a commercial, manufactured piece of equipment.

It's like what one would expect to see if someone tried to make a real firearm using only what you had on hand; it would work just as well and look roughly the same but it shows the consequences of having been made with limited resources.

That's my impression anyway. It's an impressive piece of work, no doubt.

All true.

That's the thing.
I think I could get it a bit better...but that would take up so much time..

I know what he meant :D

It's just the term ghetto that bothered me.
factory made and ghetto are on opposite sides of the spectrum.

maybe I'm just being sensitive.
My wife asked me how she looks.
Next time I'll say she looks like a domesticated pig.

wich is way better than a wild boar.
Wish me luck!

:D
