3/2 valve as main valve?
I found that Clippard makes solenoid valves, and here is the selection page
http://www.clippard.com/store/byo_maximatic/byo_ev.asp
one thing I want to get clear is should I choose direct acting spring return, or electronic piloted spring return?
if I choose electronic piloted spring return I get this
http://www.clippard.com/store/display_d ... 32QES-W012#
if direct acting spring return I get this
http://www.clippard.com/store/display_d ... -3QDS-D012#
On a side note, what is gourmet for wire attachment?

Clippard is ridiculously expensive plus they nail you on shipping AND handling, which is about 20 bucks extra.

you want an indirect acting valve... that's electronic piloted spring returnone thing I want to get clear is should I choose direct acting spring return, or electronic piloted spring return?

Sorry Poland, I'm really not sure what all these different terms mean.
If I'm understand correctly, an indirect acting solenoid uses the solenoid to pilot a small valve, which in turn move the spool to a different position. And a direct acting solenoid valve uses the solenoid itself to move the spool.
Now, what does electronic piloted mean? I thought it meant the same as indirect acting solenoid...

what is a pilot valve? it's a valve that opens a larger valve... the term electronic piloted valve basically means the same as indirect acting solenoid valveNow, what does electronic piloted mean? I thought it meant the same as indirect acting solenoid...

Thanks Poland, now everything is clear
Looks like I'm stuck with Clippard for this one, really can't find another 3/2 indirect acting solenoid valve for cleaper
Yea, the valve itself is $26, but Clippard adds another $17 for shipping and handling, lolGun Freak wrote:Clippard is ridiculously expensive plus they nail you on shipping AND handling, which is about 20 bucks extra.

I looked at that one before, it's normally closed, and it's 24v.well what about this one??
Ideally it should be 12v NO.
But then again, I could just put 2 3cell lipo in series, and that will give me 22.2 v
edit:
is it me or a lot of model numbers on ebay are not complete? Like the link poland posted, the model number should say NO or NC, also the thread dimentions

I bought mine here:
http://www.automationdirect.com/adc/Sho ... id_Valves/
They will have much much faster processing and shipping - Same day shipping with FedEx for about $5. The total for me was about $32 (I got it the next day, too). Plus they're based in the US (Atlanta) and have a great tech support team.

ROLL TIDE ROLL
Is there any way to convert a normally closed valve to a normally open one?
Either of these two valves are good, but they are both normally closed.

Can the conversion be done? Or is it just too difficult to be practical?

the symbol suggests it is a NO valve... the box on the right is the normal position... there is an arrow from P (air source) to A (the port where you attach the barrel in a QEV + 3 way combo or, in your case, the chamber)I looked at that one before, it's normally closed, and it's 24v.
it's up to you to decide whether it's better to pay more

Wait what? On the manufacture website, is the symbol flipped over? Or it's just that I can't understand those symbols?POLAND_SPUD wrote:the symbol suggests it is a NO valve...

is the box on the right always the normal position? If that's the case, I'm reading everything wrong...
edit 2
the picture of the valve on the manufacture website has the same symbol on it, and on the valve it said NC

Why would you go through all this trouble and money to use a poor main valve? An electric 3-way isn't exactly optimum.

then what should I use?Gun Freak wrote:Why would you go through all this trouble and money to use a poor main valve? An electric 3-way isn't exactly optimum.
I don't want to use a qev+3way because of the wasted pilot air, and the noise from the pilot
Can't really use a piston valve, because I can't think of a way for it to fit inside my airsoft boltaction rifle
What would be optimum if I want to fit the valve and the actuation mechanism to fit inside the receiver of an airsoft gun? I'm using regulated co2 as the air source.

I didn't know you wanted it to fit in the small space. For that purpose, I suppose it will work. I still think it's ridiculously expensive though...
What about a mechanically actuated:
