Walther CP99 Compact safety problem( HELP!!)
A while ago I took my Walther CP99 Compact apart to fit a new valve but now my safety doesnt work and its too dangerous!!= let me explain
If I cock the hammer back and the safety is on FIRE then the hammer stays held back until you pull the trigger as it should. If you cock the hammer and then push the Safety to SAFE the Hammer releases and the gun fires!!!?.
Also with the safety, you use to have push the Tab on the Safety Lever rearwards to be able to push the safety lever up or down but now you can just flick the safety up or down without pushing the tab rearwards!??. I have studied the schematics and I can definately see( accoring to the exploded diagram ) that I have no parts missing!?.
See here ,that hole at the front of the safety,I dont know why that hole is there, cause nothing goes in there, all I can think of is that I am missing a part but its not shown in the schematics of the gun!??
Here is the gun on FIRE, see that sear with the spring at the low end of the hammer , how its hard against the hammer ledge
If you now put the gun on SAFE it pulls that Sear backwards and the sear no longer contacts the hammer's ledge and the hammer releases. I can see NO WEAR on it and it oddly seems its supose to do all this yet it releases the hammer on SAFE!
See the serrated type part on the safety, you use to have push that rearwards to move the safety lever, now you dont!?
See that Sear in this pic, closest to the hammer( it has that long thin part that juts out one side) well that protruding part contacts with a protruding peice on the safety lever, so when the safety is pushed down it contacts that protrusion on the sear and pulls that sear rearwards but in doing so it releases the hammer ( ON SAFE!) it makes no sense?

I had another shot at fixing this, I slightly filled down the protruding section on the safety that pushes the sear rearwards when the safety is engaged( so that it doesnt push the sear back as far).
I put the gun back together then found out how that Safety Catch Button works...DUH- OH!!!, theres actually 2 little half circle cut outs on the frame itself so that when the gun is together and that safety button is held outwards by the spring, you have to pull back that button before it will clear the cut outs on the frame to allow the safety to move!.
Anyways, I popped in my last co2 bulb and the gun started to leak and sounding like it was leaking out the Valve, the valve is new!!. the power is still dreadfull to say the least!. I took the valve apart and put some PELLGUN OIL on all the O - Rings and put it all back together but have no co2 bulbs left.
I also added 2 small spacers where the hammer spring is to TRY get some power out this damn gun...

yeah i wanted one of these when they came out but the power was a problem for me there are airsoft forums with guys that live and breath stuff like this who might know how to get as much power as possible out of that my only thought is maybe you could put a longer barrel on it and put a mock supressor over that just a thought
This is without a doubt the most infuriating gun I have owned!!,I got it back together and working. and put the new valve in,I put 2 small spacers on the hammer spring, the gun had a LOT more power than usual but the slide kept staying backwards cause the hammer( now under more force) was pushing on the slide and holding it back.
I then reduced it to 1 spacer and the power is rediculous,I estimate like 120 fps! instead of the 300 fps its supose to have. Its like the hammer is too weak to push the valve pin in enough but if I put spacers there the slide gets stuck.
There must be something I can do to get it to fire out at least 300fps like it is supose to do
WORST GUN I HAVE EVER OWNED

Sounds like you may as well just throw it on craigslist or in the trash
I cant throw it out cause im in Australia and I paid a small fortune for it,it was brand new and smuggled into the country so you have to pay prices so high most of you would pass out with shock if I told you how much I paid for this damn thing!( i wont say how much).....Just1ofgod wrote:Sounds like you may as well just throw it on craigslist or in the trash

I would not increase hammer strength, this puts the gun under more stress than it's meant to take. What I would do is modify the valve. Two main things to do here:
1) trim away parts of the stem in order to improve flow
2) use a weaker stem return spring
Have you taken the valve apart?

I have 3 valves and have had 2 apart,I have a pic somewhere of one of them pulled apart,I'll try dig up the pic but these valves are very small!.jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:I would not increase hammer strength, this puts the gun under more stress than it's meant to take. The gun is working but I swear the power is about 120 fps or so not 300 fps .
I took the spacers back out of the hammer spring and theres still another problem where it wont cock the hammer back after a few shots and you have to rack the slide for each shot pretty much. This thing is screwed up...

Sounds like it's losing gas if it stops recocking itself after a few shots... definitely would look at the valve seal and the seal where the capsule meets the valve unit.
Do you have access to bulk CO2 or HPA? We could sort out some sort of bulk fill adapter...

I put the pistol in water to see for any bubbles, its not leaking at the valve from what I can see?.
Im positive its not leaking where the capsule goes into the valve. The valve seals are still good it was really hard to get the valve back together cause the seal was so tight. I just had another look at things and the valve thats in the gun now is much harder to push the Pin in than the other valves? so I'll have to try another valve.
The other 2 valves I have ,one is currently in peices and the other complete one was leaking out the front of it?.
I have a 20 oz co2 bottle and reg here

If you could take some good pictures of the disassembled valve I could offer better advice or custom parts.

That looks like quite a substantial spring, remember that there is 800 psi of CO2 pressure keeping the valve shut so the spring really just has to be able to overcome the seal friction.django wrote:Found it, the spring is an EXACT size to fit on a ridge on the centre part of the valve so finding a weaker spring the exact size and still able to seal on the white seal will be hard to source
I would take apart a few clicky pens

I'll look at work tomorrow for a weaker spring,I work at mechanical fitters type place that opertates and fixes CAT Dozers and Loaders so there lots of parts / machines etc I have access to.
Indeed the springs in these valves have a LOT of tension, as to why it no longer cycles the slide I do not know, I can only assume that its somehow not getting enough gas released to blow back the slide.
I still dont understand how the Blowback works on this thing?, the only thing I can come up with is that, when the hammer hits the pin on the valve that some gas is expelled out the back of the valve from around the valve pin and pushes on the encased part on the slide where the valve sits in. This is the only way I can see it works, or should work!
