Bloody climate!
I took a look at my leveraction gun today and saw it was beginning to rust..

Oh well..that's what you get when you build something out of bare metal.

I decided it was best to paint it.
Couldn;t leave it rusting up there...

I used some bondo to fill in a gap between the sideplate and the reservoir now I had a good chance of hiding it.

After a succesful paintjob on one of my kids toyguns I decided to try the worn metal look by combining silver and black.
I'm happy with the way it turned out...eventhough I couldn;t quite make up my mind about it before.
So...the rust decided for me.

Ha, to be honest I was wondering if this was going to happen; I wasn't sure if you used stainless or not

But hey, it looks quite good in actual gun colors, too. When using normal steel, you can buy bluing paste, or just heat it up with a torch to form a black iron-oxide coating. It'll be pretty rust resistance, especially if you melt a little wax into it afterwards.
Keeping steel at a red-hot heat for longer periods of time will form a very thick oxide layer that begins to peel off in places. Done correctly it'll look like dark slate. Rather nice when used in combination with stained hardwood.

It's not the most powerful gun I've built.
I can get it to fire with some decent power if I pump it some more, but then noise comes into play.

I'll have to wait for a day off when the misses is out and the kids are at school to do some in-house shooting..

Update...

I broke it..

With an angle grinder...


Now that I have a new fridgy...I feel the urge to convert this gun into a PCP pistol.
I'll make a stirrup pump for it later to be independent of the powergrid..

My other gun, Old Shatterhand, will also be converted and I think i could use the pump assembly on that build.

I chopped off the front, I was sure I wanted to...I'm not sure on how the reloading will be done.
I'm leaning towards a Girandoni block...with parallel magazine...but with the block not sliding sideways, but rotating around the reservoir at every pull of the hammer.

So...a revolver..with an added twist.

So..Here's what she look like now...compared to what I plan to do with her:

The lever also cocks the hammer, but I can also cock it by hand.

I do not like double action.

BTW:
'Doubts have been growing in my mind about wether or not the pump actually reached the kind of pressures a fridgy will.

it would not surprise me if power actually went up by this mod.

Sorry I meant when you remove the lever. By hand then? I remember the reload was also done by the lever, will it be madd by hand too?

The hammer will be cocked by hand.
cocking the hammer will pull the "cilinder" so the hole lines up with the parallel magazine and then the hammer disengages from the cilinder wich returns into position under springpower.

Or so I hope..we'll see..

Right now I've just cut the lever short so it's just a triggerguard.
I can still operate the gun as I did before.

I tried the gun at 20 bar ....seems to have about the same power as before..
But now I can go up another 20 to 30 bar
