I did try and had to dodge a spinning nail flying back off them :o

Dented the first one and thats about it ^_^

Used a similar nail to the 5p one but it just wouldn't go in. Probably need something harder and thinner...

Careful with that, it is in fact illegal to damage money, unless it is for educational purposes. ("i was only doing it for the betterment of our education" :D )
when life gives you lemons... make root beer and leave the world wondering how you did that :D

I think the correct reference is:
"Whoever fraudulently alters, defaces, mutilates, impairs,
diminishes, falsifies, scales, or lightens any of the coins coined
at the mints of the United States, or any foreign coins which are
by law made current or are in actual use or circulation as money
within the United States; or
Whoever fraudulently possesses, passes, utters, publishes, or
sells, or attempts to pass, utter, publish, or sell, or brings into
the United States, any such coin, knowing the same to be altered,
defaced, mutilated, impaired, diminished, falsified, scaled, or
lightened -
Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five
years, or both."

Since we are not using the altered currency fraudulently I think we are OK.

BTW: I just pierced a quarter with a piece of 0.025" wire fired from my pen gun. The point just barely went through.
