Now to make a bolt which can cycle at 1200 rounds a minute... a golfball sized bolt. :D

It was probably shredded before it even left the barrel :D
I was actually quite disappointed when he said it only went about 5 feet because they "tested" it by turning the air supply on

Not a great test IMO :D

Too bad this project is completely unrelated to projectiles... its supposed to be research on DDT in turbines instead of plain old deflagration. That would be quite epic though :D

Well, if the bolt was dependent on firing... like say a blow-forward bolt...

Today, I got bored, stuck some fins to a nail and then nailed a 2mm steel plate to a chunk of tree:
CIMG0192-800.jpg
I know 2mm steel is pretty tame, but I have no gorram idea where the medium plate of 6mm I've got has gone, which makes the other pieces I can find either stuff that'll be considerably more useful to me if it doesn't have holes through it - or 16mm thick.

That said, I'm almost tempted to see what happens with the 16mm and a particularly mean projectile I have lying around...
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Monstrosity?

Saddams AK looked far worse.

I'm not a fan of goldplated weaponry...but this Tommy almost gets away with it..

Jsr now that you've free access to airsoft guns, care to give me so e tips? I finally made through the Portuguese official airsoft forum after a huge fight (all because I that hi cap gbb mag  no wonder why Portugal doesn't evolve, that forum was like Middle Age church) and I met more people also more guns. A lot people asked if I sell theses mags beside WE brand. So I've decided to get another gbb rifle and G&G seems like another popular brand. Is it any good?

I claimed on the shop's facebook page <- (omg! Image us :D) that the whole range was available, for soldiers, gangsters and P.I.M.P.s hehe

We stock a lot of G&G, mostly AEGs and they are generally well made. The GBBs don't sell that well but that seems to be more due to lack of demand as opposed to build quality. With the temperatures here a gas rifle is not very useful  the prices are very good too, much cheaper than say a KJ Works equivalent.

Well, I couldn't find the 6mm steel, so I thought I'd see how far through the 16mm chunk I could get.

Drawback... it's quite a small chunk. So I actually missed it both times (particularly as I was quite a long way back to minimise the chances of getting hit by a ricochet), but the videos are quite nice anyway.
(No sound this time, I didn't have any charged batteries for the recorder).

First one is at 420 frames/sec:

In this case, it went through the brick (which was solid, no "frog" in the base)... and a lone water jug had about a cat's chance in hell of stopping it while it was still moving straight on, so it bounced down off the backstop and probably put itself somewhere underground.

Second is at 240 frames/sec, but played back at 15:

This one also hit low, bounced off the concrete slab underneath, went through the water jug sideways and was stopped by the backstop.

The scope is probably off, given the number of times I've hit low recently. (It's only been calibrated with a make-shift collimator, so that's not too unexpected).
Still, the darts performed exactly to design - they're clearly as straight as a die in flight and the fins pass their kinetic energy to the core on impact, then break off (allowing maximum penetration and also the dart to go unstable after leaving the target, minimising the danger zone for over-penetration or ricochet).

I'll cook up a few more over the next few days and see if I can actually hit anything with one of them (because there's not a lot that'll stop them if they hit. 16mm steel is guaranteed to, but I wouldn't be surprised if they'd go through half that thickness).
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

I've watched the video many times and I'm not seeing what you describe. I'm seeing the projectile strike the face of the brick and the projectile is then deflected upward without penetrating the brick. The brick shatters from the shock of impact.

I know the price are good, sounds too good to me actually and they seem generally low in fps (350?) and how is the recoil compared to WE open bolt? I can burst the fps with higher pressure but may put too much stress on the bolt?
