I have personal experience of being a very crazy not-woman.
I don't define my behavioural compass based on the threat of violence.jackssmirkingrevenge wrote:Yes, but.
As an atheist, I've heard a very similar accusation many times: Not believing in divine reward/punishment means no morals.
It personally strikes me that any person who believes people can only be nice if they're being threatened to be isn't actually a very nice person.
I've not brought up many children, but my experience of dog training is that rewarding them for good behaviour produces better results than punishing them for bad. It's the same with children. Who is likely to behave better, a child allowed to do whatever it likes or a child that faces the threat of discipline?
Naturally, mild aversion is a useful tool, but actual fear doesn't produce a dog that tries not to misbehave, it produces a dog that tries not to get caught.
Applying these lessons to any future parenthood may prove interesting, but at least my children will be able to chase their own tails on command.
This isn't very sympathetic but, from you, this is all I can think of:scars in a man's head
Probably a good move, but I am just down right argumentative.MrCrowley wrote:I would suggest discontinuing discussion of this topic, it's waste of time with these guys
