I went for a bit of careful epoxy application - and it made quite a difference!
Came across something the other day which may be of interest....claims are, as far as I know....still only claims.
Interesting... looks conceptually similar to what I did, the "force reduction piston" goes into the valve stem and offers lower resistance from chamber pressure.

All for just $120, bargain!

Yep...and he hadn't reached the valve's max at 3500 psi....ahem...

Get the CBHV driven Caselman to work reliably and you'll show those yanks how it's done :D

I'm tempted to give it a go myself...

Please do...

I'm pretty much stuck at the moment.
not that I couldn't get it to work...I need to buy stuff to get it the way I want it..And as I'll be starting on my bike DL in a couple of weeks I'm tragically underfunded...

I have this gun too. I have always wanted to soup it up and now have something to follow.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Seeing as you're obviously handy with lathe and mill, looking forward to what you will come up with :)

I made an insert that removed about 1cc and got some very disappointing results, at 20 pumps it was giving me 2 shots and at 25 pumps it wasn't firing at all. It can't be that the balanced spool was compromised, because the "balance chamber' is open to the atmosphere and it would not have retained pressure. Curious.

Velocity from 20 pumps has jumped to 551 fps, adding a full foot pound of energy!

25 pumps gave me an average of 583 fps, 10.8 ft-lb
s, we're not at 161% of the advertised muzzle energy of the original :)

Je suis un lapin très heureux :D
Jack, this is my first post here so please bear with me.

I am interested in the problem you encountered (first quote) above. By "using epoxy" to solve said problem (although it seems you use epoxy for any kind of problem) do you mean you further reduce the chamber volume or making better seal for TP?

In ordinary valve, it seems that at 20 pumps you have partial lock and at 25 you have full locked valve. Is it possible to get valve-lock on CBHV?

Also on the p2, what is the function of the hole nearest to the pump head?

I've suffered worse ;)

The latter, I basically sealed the valve-transfer port-barrel connection with epoxy to make it airtight. There are few problems in life that cannot be solved by the judicious application of binary adhesives :D

My valve was not completely balanced, there was still a positive bias towards keeping the valve shut - so valve lock is still possible, though deferred to higher pressures.

Didn't quite get which hole you were referring to.

That clears things up. Thanks.

I am referring to the hole on the right side (with red arrow pointing at it).

I know that the hole on the left is exhaust port, but didn't quite understand the function of the other hole.

The hole serves two purposes, it vents the rear of the balanced valve to stop resistance from air being compressed in a closed chamber, and it is where the valve is bolted to the pump tube.

That's a clever way to build inline balanced valved Jack :salute:

Thanks for sharing it with us.
