Very nice, The Monster especially. It is very similar to the cannon I am working on now. Mine will be a 15"X6" chamber with a 10 foot golfball barrel. You are right about the 6" fittings. Had to get them off Mcmaster and they were expensive. Looking forward to seeing the video of The Monster in action.

Your cannons are nice. I like the aesthetics on the small fry one. Also, but normal spudding standards, that's not that small. 
I really like the 6" one, because as Binder said it takes a lot of work and money to make a cannon that big.

I got the six inch parts from a local supply house; Home Depot only carries four inch. For the fittings alone I paid close to $60 USD. The two inch cost me around $7 which I got from Home Depot, (believe it or not all the pipe at the 'big' supply house wasn't pressure rated
) $10 for the ignitor, and $4 for the Krylon Fusion paint (good stuff!). I was lucky enough to come across the six inch chamber for free. I don't even want to know what a ten foot piece of six inch s40 PVC would've cost! So up to this point, I'm in it for $81USD and I haven't even shot it.
Nonetheless I painted it today, and will post pictures soon of 'Big Blue'. -Lp

Those Cannons look great. I am hoping to make a cannon like the small fry one, but my dad is kind of wary, because i almost lit the carpet on fire with my mini... 
no fire for me for a while. and i agree with the statements about pneumatics. i have a few, and they are way more powerful than combustion, if built correctly.

How long did it take you two to saw through the 20' foot piece. 10 minutes? 20 minutes? Did you use a chainsaw?

I sawed through w/o problem - chop saw.
But there's a bigger problem; I can't get the thing to fire!
I tried my usual fuel, hairspray, at 5, 10 and 15 second spray intervals respectively. I think it's time to take my new found hobby to the next level and try installing a fan. I am getting a spark, but it's down near the clean-out cap and there is a whole lot of space in there! So if a spark is being produced but the gun still won't fire there must be a fuel problem, right? I'll keep everyone posted as to the outcome. -Lp

You should maybe try a stungun ignition and multiple spark gaps, spanning the entire length of the chamber. This would probably solve your problem!

I have been pondering the idea of a stun gun ignition, and I've just learned how to create multiple sparks via wire configuration. This is still all new to me, but I do find it more interesting the more I learn. Thanks for the input! -Lp

Well, I installed the fan today. I made a bracket out of the same strap used to hold the igniter handle on and let me tell you, that metal is hard to bend by hand with pliers. So needless to say it's not pretty, but it is functional, besides you can't see it when it's closed.medievalman wrote:Is it working now?
I have a 9V connection, which spins the fan pretty nice, and want to install a toggle switch. As it is now I can just touch a battery to the terms and the fan goes, so tomorrow I'll let you all know what happened. -Lp
