Nice gun, but how does it shoot? The pilot leads to a dead end, as far as I can see.

If you get a pair of tweezers or a valve tool you can reach inside a schrader valve and unscrew the poppet valve.
What you're left with is essentially a tube and if you close the ballvalve before releasing the pump head the trigger port air is trapped.
Good stuff Leeshad

Really? Hmm, I might have to see how that works sometime. So it's basically a shrader, but not one way, so it's like a quick connect in the form of a schrader valve, am I right?

Its just a hollow tube that can be connected to a pump once you've taken the valve bit out, I'm not entirely sure about quick connects (don't they have something to seal the end when its released?).

			OK, I thought so.
A male quick connect is just a hollow tube machined to fit inside female quick connects, which are sealed.

Great job leeeeshad. What pressures do you normally use this at? I use one of my marble guns, (1/2" QEV into a 1/2" type M copper barrel), routinely at 150 PSI and it almost sounds like a gunshot.
BTW, are you in any way related to the joannaardway of these forums? She said she had a brother who made a copper gun with compression fittings like that quite some time ago...

No - leeshad isn't my brother.
My brother goes by many internet names, but the one that you're most likely to see is Ragnarok.
He hasn't built any cannons for a while, but you'll know about it when he builds the next one. It'll be (if he sticks to his designs) reasonably impressive.

frankrede: Well then I guess it won't matter when you decide to drink bleach because your out of kool-aid.
...I'm sorry, but that made my year.

I would have thought it had been fairly obvious!
Yes, I am one of the few of those rare female spudders.

Gosh you're probably tired of answering that!

That's, what, how many times I've heard that?
An innocent mistake, though, seeing as I can't find a legitimate reason for a forum member searching for another one's gender.
