Hi Spudfiles friends,I've had a great interest in making my own guns and stuff.Well its about time I should get down and create one my own.
I've decided on a combustion type sniper rifle that can maybe travel at about 50m-100m or maybe even more.

Here's what my experiement is based on,its a M24 Sniper Rifle
Image

Here's what my sniper rifle would look like,
Image
As you can see,the design lacks of many parts. For example, the slot where i can load my ammo and little component that I lack of.What i worry of is the chamber area.During combustion I'm very afraid that the explosion might backfire into the tubes of the aerosol can which might cause another explosion. Is there anyway to avoid this? And how about the
mechanism of the aerosol can spray?

Notice the different between both the picture is the extra pump below,(maybe also tad differences in the structure). No its not a hybrid(what you call it).Its just a simple pump to provide air into the chamber.

I know this is a rough sketch and it lacks much infomation, thats why I'm here to plead to all the experienced spud gun-makers to aid me along the process of making this rifle.I accept all ideas and advices even if it changes my original plans and critism too, because of these i would learn as i build. Thanks =D

And oh ya I want the ammo to fly as far as the eye can see (or maybe close to that) and it is suppose to hurt/damage/pierce something effectively and powerfully

is that a bike pump on there??? thats pneumatic not combustion...and i wouldnt use combustion for this type of gun it would be greatly less power for a bb than a pneumatic gun...so just search the wiki and figure out how they work
4" piston valved cannon-half done..( i spilt my cement...)

Hybrid- 75% done. need to build propane holder and drill/tap sparkplug hole..

I'm so sorry for the poor illustration.Nope its not a pneumatic, the pump is just any ordinary pump for balloons.the pump basically provides air so that the combustion in the chamber is successful.
And about the ammo i'm going for AA batteries or this,

I dislike pnueumatic type because i feel that they are more dangerous. :?

Mud do you want it to be a hybrid? Thats basically what your doing with putting air into it unless you don't put much air in. It would also be easier to put a chamber fan into it then to put the pump on it.

yea a small chamber fan would definetly improve the combustion and the look except i dont know how you would clean out the barrel after every shot with a chamber fan because it would need to have an opening behind it for the fan to suck air from. the idea of a pump unerneath it real hepls me with my gun beacause i was trying to think if a way to clean out the barrel without having to open an end cap and let the chamber fan blow the smoke out. you would probly also need a shrader valve (srry i cant spell) inbettwen the pum and the chamber so the compression dosent go back into the pump.

This would work, but a pneumatic would probably be a better idea.
I wouldnt worry about the aerosol can exploding, that is a myth since there is no oxygen in the can to burn.
@lukemc: I believe bike pumps already have a one way valve in them, so a schrader value probably wouldnt be necessary.

Also there is more pressure in the can then there is outside it so it deff wont explode

Make the chamber a short section of 1.5" metal pipe and put a cam-lok at the back of the barrel and that would be a sweet hybrid.

Sorry for the long reply, couldn't get online. :?

I should be buying the necessary items soon, and i would like to ask you all about the measurement of the pvc pipes.Should i stick with 2 inch and 1/2 inch? How about the length(i want it to look similar to the actual gun)?
I need to get the most of the gun while maintaining it safe.

And yes, I was trying to say it just didn't know the term, the pump is to "clean" the chamber for the next shot

there is nothing unsafe about a pneumatic unless u abuse it and its poorly constructed. it would also greatly increase power and in ur case... range. easier to operate and would look a hellova lot cleaner too. u said u wanted to shoot AA batteries? 1/2 pipe is too big. unless u wadded em.

I'd say go with the pneumatic lots easier for a sniper form then a combustion and they are safer than you expect
