Keep in mind that the guuy who posted that we should have a candlelight vigil is the same one who got so depressed after getting banned from the forums.

i highly doubt there was seriousness behind the moment of silence. And if that got you offended, you would be offended at every Tampa Bay Storm arena football game when they call for a moment of silence before the game, so they can say there was a "calm before the storm".
Truthfully, I'm a bit disappointed in the SGTC Forums closing. It doesn't have me depressed or anything like that. I don't care as much now that I hear most or all the files from there will be moved here or something along those lines.

Shame. It was a great forum. I looked at it occasionally but never posted much.
Hopefully SF can benefit from the immigrants.

I was waiting for this thread...
Yes the SpudTech forums are now closed for many reasons.
The SpudTech forum database is.... well very messy to say the least. An attempt to unarchive topics for a conversion proved to mess things up even more (now I have some partially unarchived topics, and 4 copies of EVERYTHING).
Can I promise you that I will be able to save the info from SpudTech? No... However I will try.
I have a copy of SpudFiles running on a server next to me, and I tried to do a SpudTech post conversion and it turned out very very bad.
I will work on it to see what I can do, however I can not promise anything.

I really do miss spudtech. damn vandals. Joel should sue the guy that fucked everything up and use the money to host spudtech
I'm not mad or upset that forums closed, I understand joel's reasoning. He was tired of the bullshit and the vandolism, he was getting harrassed by major people on and off the forum. His work load is heavy and he is leaving the country. didn't he also hint at selling the buisness completely? that will be a sad end to it all. I wonder what his rifling machine would sell at.....? he aught to auction everything to private buyers instead of selling the buisness, I'd hate to see what would happen to the hobby if the wrong person got ahold of it.
anyway I am more upset with the dumbass who had the tenacity to harrass and disrupt the forums like they did. Unfourtunately joel had to give them what they wanted and shut the whole thing down. I just hope that PcGuy has a little better handle on the security here.....

That's actually a legit thing he did, I just didn't like it lol.MrCrowley wrote:Only time i've seen this placed hacked is when Sean(gort) put a picture of a Rabbit with a Pancake on its head on the home page
Any moderator could do it, they just know what will happen if they do it. It's a technicality with the way phpBB forums work. I insist it's a bug, but the phpBB team seems to think otherwise.

OK think of this.
If I had every post ever posted on spudtech, ever (archives and everything) what would be better...
1 - merge them straight into this forum, most of the posts would fit into one of the sections I have here
OR
2 - setup a whole new (very basic and maybe ugly) forum that would be read only. You could not login to it, or post to it, it would serve only as an archive of SpudTech.
