Atlantis-Why would they send in the marines first? That just makes them cannon fodder. They would seem to be a more tactical response for taking taking out precise targets more then just sending them into battle.
And the SAS(British elite)are very well trained soldiers some of the finest in the world anlong side with the New Zealand elite forces, and yes I did say New Zealand. They are highly trained soldeirs.
But that being said there are the elite in each field the best of the best as such.So it depends on your view of which is "better" because a Marine trying to Pilot a fighter jet would be useless aswell if a gunner was to try be a Tactical Response Team.
As for the Airforce it all seems very well but they only take the very best perfect vision (20-20 vision)and you have to be under a certain weight and height restictions to Pilot a Jet,which one of my friends found out the hard way...Got through most of the training and found out 2 years into his course that he was to tall to ever Pilot a jet which was all he ever wanted ot do.

Yeah I heard from a friend of mine NZ SAS are amongst the best in the world and some of the best trackers and thats why they're are used all over the world in afganastan etc
The Aussie, and NZ forces, lets admit, suck. About much action your going to get there is walking around the Sydney Olympics with a semi-automatic rifle, or just maybe a drug raid. [Mind you Australia might have been taken over had it not been the US intervention.]
:-p
I'm not sure what you want to accomplish, so I will take a couple stabs. Do you want to get some experience under your belt from a tactical stand point, or you want to be the best solider you can be? Both the Marine, and Army personal will each tell you there training is harder then the other. It is pumped into there brains during all parts of there training.
From what I have seen the Army looks for quantity, and the Marines look for quality. My cousin is a Marine, he went in there probably 60 pounds overweight, dropped it all and put back on a good 20lbs of muscle mass. That is also the general concessus I've drawn is that the Army will get you in shape, while the Marines make you stronger.
As a Marine your going to see more action in the event of deployment. This whole urban warfare bit demands skilled personal, not bodies. Although for your own sake your going to have to, and decide is that what you want. My cousin was on the first striking forces in Afghanistan on there air bases, and other defenses. From what I understand there was a lot of close combat, and putting a bullet in a guy that realizes he has a bit longer to live, and all the agony he expresses, f*cks you up.
I mean prior to this whole service my cousin was straight Left politically. He is one of those rare Lefties that puts thought into action, so he joined the Marines. Now after his service is all Right politically. I visited him about a year ago, and the general procedure around there is that the you do not watch any political channels on TV. Any mention of the war will throw him into a emotional roller coaster. Reminds me of a bad acid trip, but the sh*t is real.
The endurance, and pushing yourself to the limit would be good. Sure I would hate it during the training, but I think its just like any other intensive physical activity, you fell good afterwards. Quite honestly the only thing I would be worried about is the mentioned emotional effects after a tour of duty.
In conclusion if you want to be elite, join the Marines.

NZ's army sucks....Our PM got rid off all of our fighter jets for less then we paid for them just after 9/11 WTF! it shows...Our PM is femalepimpmann22 wrote:The Aussie, and NZ forces, lets admit, suck. But our SAS is top class, some of the best in the world, and if our forces suck then why would your President keep attacking our Government to join the War in Iraq? Oh and NZ and Aussie does get alot of acion inside and outside our countries....we've got everything you guys have, hostage situations with full automatic rifles, bomb threats, huge drug raids on P labs, SWAT teams, specialist sniper teams and everything else....A SWAT and Specialist sniper team were called to Assualt a P Lab(drug) in Aucklands CBD right next to a primary school, the SWAT and sniper teams took over public houses to get good positions, some lady offered a sniper some OJ and he swore at here even though it was her house lol
Joanna feel free to rip into me

Pimpmann22-What do you mean by taken over if it had not been for US intervention??Since when have we had a mojor threat to our country?Apart from Kokoda which we did hold for many months on end without intervention except for the Kiwi's. AussieKiwi pride.
And at the moment in Sydney there have been placed permanent forces in place were there is response teams at a ready and even sniper point that a permanent(which isn't too smart I might add).
Just wondering were do you get your information from Pimpmann22?Becasue most Global News stations have about 0.2% of actualy happenings of what goes on in our country so what are you basing your claims on?Just wondering.

I was talking about the britsh royal marines the branch that they ripped of from the US. The SAS is the branch that the US ripped off when we made out elite units. The SAS is sort of the best in europe but I was talking about the britsh marines who are qualifled as an elite divison their much smaller than the US Marines, I think their about 3,000 people
but since this is now about this is about whos military unit is better US NAVY SEAL #1 in the world at everything.
man during the veitnam war the the killed SEAL to veitcong was around 1:>300 and me and my friends were reading about them and one guy said that no Navy seal was ever captured, but my other friend corected him based on the book he was reading that there were captured seals in veitnam but they all killed thier captives and escaped
