was this new pipe you used, or did you find this ABS sitting around and decided to make it into a cannon?

from the looks of it, it was old pipe than had its structural integrity tested before and couldn't cope with the sudden pressure rise. Be glad you weren't holding it under your arm like most people do.

New Pipe did that? WOW!! It must have been flawd or dammaged ither during casting or in transit to shop? Did you drop it by any chance. i know that type of pipe can damage easly.
A cunundrum has presented itself? you could always put it down to the hand of god. @&(*ed if i know why it just happened. Try again and see how you go if it is the materials your using or just a random act?
Good luck and try to have fun but be careful.

It looks like the chamber is rather long, possible the mix could have been to concentrated towards the back and then DDT happened?

I refuse to accept that theory.
I have never heard or seen cell core abs fracture under normal circumstances.
His pipe must have been defective or had some irregularity.

How many people use cellular core ABS in combustions? Barely any from what I have seen. And its almost impossible to have a defect in a pipe, in the factory they check the pipe with really high tech stuff. And ABS is very durable, it would not crack or anything when dropped.
Cellular core is fine for a barrel but not chamber.

ok. i understand that cellular core is bad for potato guns. how do you tell cellular core from solid wall abs pipe.i have a pneumatic cannon and i have it upwards of 100 psi and it is made of old pipe i found laying around, and i want to know if it is cellular core, cause if it is i am going to take it apart it right away.but i don't know how to tell ?

What about the time when Lucky13's Sch80 union blew up at 80psi? Things can be defective.

Ive seen people stand on it and its shattered. and it was new pipe just from the shop. I know some one who is a irragation specalist he says the stuffs really not ment to have anything above 15psi of water presure.
the solid stuff can handle a little more.
Its no really recomended to push that much pressure thru them
