I didn't say that. I blame the 3x higher deathrate generally on the vehicles themselves. There was another member who was blaming truck/suv owners driving abilities.rednecktatertosser wrote:hey cash guess what, i actually am pretty damn observant with my car, obervant enough to know when the valve rockers need to be replaced cause the valves clicking.
And you're not observant enough to notice the effects of an extra 800lbs of weight in your vehicle?
That's cool. I know a guy with a lincoln with over 300,000 miles too.and also my auto shop teacher has a 1984 chevy suburban 2500 with over 300,000 miles on the engine and transmission and its stil running fine. and the era of jimmy i have has been known to go into the 300,000 to 400,000 mile range when properly cared for.
STOP. Seriously. I hate it when you make statements like this that are obviously BS. MOST CARS use aluminum engine blocks, and aluminum heads. The blocks have iron sleeves for durability, so it isn't an issue. All 2002+ ford explorers and mercury mountaineers with the 4.6 liter v8 have aluminum blocks. All Dodge Ram SRT10s use aluminum engine blocks, as do all dodge vipers. The only, ONLY reason that all engine blocks are not already aluminum is COST. They cost more. Porsche, BMW, Mercedes? Generally aluminum blocks, if not all. Hell, ALL F1/indy car blocks are aluminum, and they run hotter and harder than anything else I can think of.also aluminum engineblocks dont respond well to the heat down here in texas.
Come to Milwaukee. I'll give you a ride in my SVX, or my buddies civic with a b18 swap, or his other civic with a b20 and a turbo. A lot of asian cars kick the snot out of the boring oversized, overly soft suspensioned crap that America has been putting out. The last domestic car I actually liked was the 1st generation neon, as it actually had stiff suspension good enough to corner well.also i would hate to drive any asian car. they really arent that great.
edit- no cash, you worthless piece of crap, truck/suv owners are not generally retards, people that have extra chromasomes are generally retards, does that clear things up for you?
Should I buy a new truck?

oh well if you didnt say that than my appologies.
and also i dont drive a very small car, like i said i drive a 86 gmc jimmy, and 800 lbs wond do much to change how it runs, i have pulled a home made smoker that was on its own trailer which weighs in at around 1500 pounds, which i pulled off road on some land, and i was barely able to notice the effects. in my oppinion i would much rather drive a domestic car than an import because its not easy for me to climb into a really small cramped car. anyways in my personal experiance i havent been able to notice the effects of weight on my vehicle because i dont usually have that much weight in it. im not saying you didnt feel it. im just saying that i have only noticed it in my vehicle the one time, and that was a very slight effect.

yeah, that pic shows how shitty the travel is on that thing.
cash, no offense, but you are coming across a loser who is in love with a shitty 4-w drive station wagon with plastic bumpers (and it looks like shit, too)
you could kick a Subaru's ass with a freaking Geo tracker, on travel and everything. that's pretty sad.
the Subaru is a car, no.... station wagon pretending to be a truck
guys, quit bitching. it's annoying, and you aren't helping either of your images on here.
oh. lets see the Subaru do this-
(Geo tracker, neither has preformance or suspension mods)
here's how a real off road vehicle flexes

this van handles better offroad than your Subaru!
you couldn't do this with a Subaru, even after suspension mods!
ok, I'm done...
just trying to prove that Subaru's are not as good for off-road as you think.
gas mileage, yes. off-road, no.

True that. Even so, my volkswagon beetle gets 60 mpg.schmanman wrote:just trying to prove that Subaru's are not as good for off-road as you think.

No kidding, this is a pic of same model mitsubishi delica my folks own in kenya.I have to say this is the coolest van I have ever been in.Save for the right hand steering wheel Can't bring it back home.this van handles better offroad than your Subaru!

Our van has larger mud track wheels on it,so it is slightly taller.Talk about some serious ground clearance!

So you're saying every single person who drives a truck or SUV offroads on terrain like that? Somehow I doubt that. And I have many sources that say less than 5% of SUVs EVER go off the road, on purpose. My point?schmanman wrote:yeah, that pic shows how shitty the travel is on that thing.

Offroading is not a huge deal, since most people don't do it. Instead, people like yourself like to brag that they CAN do it, without actually doing it. Do you honestly think that navigators and escalades and all that crap ever offroads? OR the soccer mom in the suburban? No, they do not.
My point is that the subie is not "OMG TEH BEST!!1!1!!1" at offroading, my point was that they CAN go offroad, and they can DEFINITELY handle a driveway with some mud, gravel, and water in it. Hell, I used to go offroading in my dodge neon, back in the day.

Everyone has diffferent views on things, and you can try but your not going to be able to force someone to accept your views. The British tried in during the revolution, it was called impressment and it didnt work to well. So not to be gay and say lets all get along but really cant we be mature about things?

YEEHA!!I just bought myself a dark blue 1990 cherokee laredo. It needs a little work, the rear hatch needs new gas assist lifts. And the driver's seat needs to be repaired. The welded pipe connecting the seat to the track busted (bad welds on part of the factory)out so I need to fire up the welder and tack them back in place. No biggie.Everything else is just fine I drove it home for about a hundred miles(slight detour )
And guess what the best thing is...it has AC! Big improvement over my black chevy that had no AC.
The guy who sold it was moving out of town that day(the jeep was the last thing left in town) so I got a pretty good deal of $700.He was desperate to sell. And to cure anyone's thought that I bought a brokedown piece of junk.I had my dad, who is a mechanic of 30 yrs, check it out.He gave it the okay.

You have any plans for it? Any mods lined up? Might I suggest a new exhaust system?

Nope no lifting for this one.All I want in this jeep is a replacement for my everyday drive around vehicle.I have an old military humvee in the backyard that is my project My dad got an old wrecked(slightly) humvee from a friend,I plan on either building it up for one sweet street ride or an off road monster.Of course he still thinks the humvee is his
