Built my first ever spud gun! LOL
Ok, well firstly hello
I've been looking at spud guns for ages but never attempted to make one.
Thats why today was different
I found some good plans for proper size guns and also some for the mini ones and i went round my house looking for things to use.
I decided the mini ones looked too small and the big ones looked too big so i thought i would go meduim ish
Firstly i found a 6 inch high, 2 inch thick tube thing with a screw on lid and decided that it was perfect for the combustion chamber.
I carried on hunting and reached the garage and found an old plastic broke bicycle pump which i remember finding on the side of the road, it was about 1ft long so i got the hacksaw out and cut the big tube bit off so i had a nice strong plastic tube.
The cut a hole in the bottom of the tube thing so that it fit the pipe perfectly, i then used a glue gun and attempted to secure the two together, it was ok, wasn't brilliant but it will do.
Next thing was to find an old lighter i could scavenge the electric spark thing from and i found one a and took it apart, after thinking about the best way to put the sparker in i decided to drill a hole and put the whole thing inside apart from the clicky button. I managed that, kinda bodge job but it would work!
Testing!
Loaded it with a bit of potato i found in the bottom of the fridge.
I found some lynx deodrant and sprayed some in and then quickly shut the lid.
Click...click...click...click...click...click...click...click...click...click
Grrrrrrr... it wasnt working
I unscrewed the back and waved it around for 10 secs to let the gas out, i thought it was the sparker so i looked into the combustion chamber and clicked it... Booom!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Flames shot out and singed my eyebrows, hair and eyelashes.
LMAO! That was funny!
Ok, the sparker is working 8) lets try this again!
So i put less lynx into it and shut the lid, waited about 20 secs for the oxogen to mix with it and then tried to fire it:
Click...click....click.....click...BOOM!
WOW!!!!! IT WORKED!!!
The bit of potato flew a good 100yrds, i was more than impressed with this crappy thing i had made.
Now i want to make a proper one using abs or pvc and not just random objects i found around the house.
Here are some pics so you can see how crap it actually was :
So what do you think, lol

Hey! Cool! I like that your spud gun finally worked...*sniff sniff*.. a touching story.. As for your eyebrows: hahahahaha!
I found that the bigger your gun is the easier it is to put in the mix and it works better.
Your next project should be pneumatic (Im an air man!) Theyre for real men...
Just remember to use PVC not ABS for pneumatic!

Nice, it was cool that you were able to find the required bits around the house. I hope it holds together. The next one you make should have a long barrel:) makes for good shooting.
Next time your hunting for bits, look for old items that you can blast:)
Cannon+old TV+potato(frozen)+cliff face = a kick ass afternoon

try binaca breath spray. one squeeze of the sprayer about an inch away from the combustion chamber is a perfect fuel/air mixture for a film-can sized chamber. it also smells nice when you burn it.... mmmmm minty
I had a go with it again today but for the first 30mins i couldn't get it to work and gave up and went back inside, when i put the spray down i discovered the problem... it was bloody anti-perspirant
Grabbed some proper deodrant and have spent the last hour doing target practice.

A suggestion for your sparker it use electrical tape to tape ome wires to the leads on the peizo. Then attach the other ends to screws in the chamber.
Nice job, I'm a "ghetto guy" myself, hence my signature
